AirAsia’s RedRun Races into Penang This September

AirAsia is bringing the excitement of its regional RedRun series to Penang for the very first time, with the next edition taking place on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Gurney Plaza.
Following the debut of RedRun in Bali earlier this year — which drew runners from 40 countries — the Penang edition is expected to attract thousands of participants from across ASEAN and beyond.
Three race distances are offered to suit all levels: 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km. Runners are encouraged to sign up early via heyjom.com, with registration open until August 18, 2025. Limited slots are available and early birds can enjoy a discount with the following promo codes:
YB Tuan Wong Hon Wai, Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy, praised the event as a meaningful initiative to connect people and celebrate Penang’s rich cultural heritage: “We are pleased to see AirAsia engaging the public through more than just air travel. RedRun gives Penangites and visitors a chance to be part of something vibrant and community-driven.”
AirAsia Malaysia CEO Dato’ Captain Fareh Mazputra echoed that sentiment: “RedRun is about celebrating the spirit of travel and togetherness. Penang is a fitting host — not only is it our second-largest hub in Peninsular Malaysia, it’s also a dynamic cultural and culinary destination.”
AirAsia will also be rolling out its AirAsia Festival at Gurney Plaza this month, promising more reasons to visit Penang, the airline’s Pearl of the Orient. The state currently enjoys direct AirAsia connectivity to 12 cities, including Singapore, Jakarta, Shenzhen, and Medan.
