'Revival' Episode 6 Recap & Ending Explained: Is There A Connection Between Aliens And Revivers?

Season one of Revival has been a rollercoaster ride so far; just when you thought you’d figured out the reason behind the mysterious occurrence, suddenly something bizarre happened that threw you for a loop once again. After the last five episodes, it had become clear that the Revivers were not simply dead people who’d come back to life. They had special power—their wounds healed incredibly fast, and they were highly agile. But how did they come to inherit these magical qualities? The water was contaminated, but Ibrahim was yet to fully comprehend what was going on. Apart from the mysterious revival phenomenon, we also have a vengeful entity, the Reviver, who came back to life while he was being cremated. Dana had headed the ‘Blackdeer’ case, and it’s possible the man despised her because he believed Dana didn’t do her job well. In Revival episode 6, a crucial detail is finally revealed, and we might just be a little closer to solving the mystery.

Spoiler Alert

Why did the Check Brothers abduct Em, Copper and Jordan?

At the very end of the previous episode, Deputy McCray was arrested, and the cops found mutilated feet in the trunk of his car. It seemed like a case of a twisted fetish at first, but in episode 6 we discover that there is something sinister at play. McCray was working for the Check Brothers, and they had started a lucrative business of selling Reviver body parts to their highest bidders. They were hunting down Revivers, chopping off their body parts by force and using men such as McCray to cross the border. Ibrahim was right—Revivers were being reduced to second-class citizens. The police department headed by Sheriff Wayne Cypress had already segregated the Revivers from the rest of the population. Their IDs were marked, their houses were labelled, and they were pretty much treated as ‘others’. The CDC saw the Revivers as guinea pigs. They were under pressure to explain the revival phenomenon, and unlike Ibrahim, Dr Morelle didn’t face a moral dilemma while experimenting on Myles Miller, even though it was clearly hurting him. She believed that, to protect the common people, she had to take extreme measures and find a solution that could help them keep the Revivers under control. Blaine Abel and his men harassed the Revivers, calling them an abomination of God’s creation. And now the Check Brothers had decided to mutilate them after they figured there was a demand for their dismembered parts. It will not be a surprise if the Revivers start attacking the common people out of spite.

When Dana was investigating Em’s murder, she had initially considered the Check Brothers as suspects. At that time, she revealed to the Check Brothers that Em was a Reviver. The brothers had every intention of seeking revenge on Em after she stole drugs from their house. They had been waiting for the right moment to strike. Their client had asked for the body parts of a female Reviver, and Anthony decided Em was perfect for it. After McCray’s arrest, they needed someone to help them cross the border, and they thought Dana could do the job. They knew she would agree to anything if she was told that her family would be harmed if she didn’t follow their instructions. So, one evening, when Em, Cooper and Jordan were at Dana’s house together, the Check Brothers arrived, and they abducted the three of them. Jordan was not part of their plan, but since she was a Reviver, they handcuffed her as well.

Who had shot Dana in the woods?

Dana was in the hospital when she received a call from Anthony Check stating that they’d abducted her sister and her son. He made it very clear that if Dana helped them get their cargo across the border, they would release Cooper. Anthony clarified that Em was gone and there was no way they were going to let go of her. He mentioned that the first truck would be at the eastern checkpoint at 4.35 PM, and the second truck would be at the southern checkpoint at 4.45 PM, along with the license numbers of both the vehicles. Even though Dana’s wounds hadn’t yet healed, she decided to drive up to the checkpoints by herself. She instructed the nurse to give her a shot of painkiller before she left. Hesitant at first, the nurse ultimately complied. Before she left the hospital, Dana had smacked Deputy Brent Gunderson on his right arm when he didn’t readily leave her room to pull his car around and get it ready for Dana. When Brent returned, Dana noticed a patch of blood on his right arm. Em had told Dana that she had shot the mysterious stranger in the woods in the right arm. Dana couldn’t believe her eyes; the man she’d been searching for had been by her side the whole time. From an innocent police officer to a cunning killer, Brent’s expression shifted immediately. He knew Dana had figured out his secret, and his only option now was to kill her. He pointed his gun at Dana, but she refused to follow his instructions. She repeatedly smacked him, but then she fell to the ground, and Brent kicked her in the abdomen. She tried to get her hands on his gun, but he pulled her away. Dana managed to get her hands on a surgical tray lying on the ground, and she hit Brent with it. He fell to the ground, and Dana grabbed the television in her room and dropped it on Brent’s face; he died on the spot. We’re yet to find out the connection between Brent and the Reviver with burn wounds. Did Brent despise Dana because he was also of the opinion that she didn’t do justice to the Blackdeer case, or was he simply paid by the man to kill Dana? We are yet to find out.

What happened to Em?

Dana contacted Wayne and asked him to head to the eastern checkpoint while she headed to the southern checkpoint. She didn’t have the time to explain what was going on, and she hoped her father would understand. Dana found a truck waiting at the checkpoint, but her son was not in it. To her disbelief, she found a dismembered Reviver who was still alive and being transported across the border. Dana decided to head to the Check Brothers warehouse. The police department was on alert about the movements of the Check Brothers, and when Ibrahim figured that Dana had possibly headed to the warehouse, he decided to go there as well. The truck that was supposed to arrive at the eastern checkpoint never made it. As it turned out, Em was in the truck, but she’d managed to free herself. She single-handedly killed the truck driver and walked back to the Check Brothers’ warehouse. Until now, Em had never felt the need to use the power that she was blessed with as a Reviver. But the whole abduction and trafficking had left her bitter, and she was ready to spill blood to protect the people who mattered to her. One by one, she killed the men at the warehouse.

Meanwhile, Dana found her way to Cooper, but Anthony interrupted her and repeatedly stabbed her. He knew it was all over, and he wanted to hurt the Cypress family before he was killed as well. He knew Em was behind the destruction, and he wanted to break her by killing Dana. Em arrived at the scene, and she attempted to choke Anthony. He repeatedly stabbed her and fractured her arm. While Em had brittle bones, she was now a Reviver, and she now had the power to heal instantly. Em used the sharp edge of her protruding bone to stab Anthony, resulting in his gory death.

Is there a connection between aliens and Revivers?

The final scene confirms the alien theory. The glowing beam of light turned out to be an alien creature who was calling out to the Revivers. Jordan felt a deep connection with the creature, and she had always wanted to surrender herself to the being. In the final scene, when Jordan finally came face-to-face with the alien, she reached out her hand and touched it. She bid goodbye to Ibrahim and Cooper and disappeared with the creature. It’s likely that a UFO had landed on the revival day, and it resulted in the unexplainable phenomenon. Maybe the glowing source of light that Blaine Abel and his men were worshipping was the alien or the UFO that had landed.

After the inhumane treatment the Revivers were subjected to, it would not be a surprise if most of them decided to disappear with the alien creatures to live permanently on their world. The ending of Revival episode 6 also confirms that Revivers have healing properties. Em was devastated when she saw Dana in a bloody state. She started to weep blood, and in a miraculous way, a yellow beam of light emitted from her hand. Dana regained consciousness, suggesting that the light had healing properties. This new revelation is extremely significant. Revivers not only had the power to heal themselves but also others. And who knows? This might encourage more people to exploit them or hold them captive for their own benefit!
