'Not Suitable For Work' Episodes 4-5 Recap And Review: Do Bill And AJ Get Together?

The latest two episodes of Not Suitable For Work keep the stakes just as high and deliver a fun workplace comedy that many youngsters can enjoy while they pretend to work from home. We see new developments in both Abby and AJ’s love lives, but I can’t say either one of them is making the smartest choices. I guess we’ll see more about that in future episodes. This episode sees an interesting new dynamic between AJ and her boss, Bill, which we saw coming, but still feels somewhat problematic. Is this an age gap we’re supposed to be okay with? Also, I’m not sure how old AJ is supposed to be in the show, but my guess would be mid-20s, and that seems appropriate enough, maybe. On a sidenote, why are these women so stunning? I mean, I completely understand why they’re both in love triangles/quadrangles/pentagons. With that said, though, let’s dive into episodes 4 and 5.

Spoiler Alert

Do AJ And Bill Act On Their Feelings?

In the first three episodes, we saw a spark between AJ and Bill. Bill even came all the way to AJ’s building to join her for dinner, but he chickened out at the last minute. However, in this episode, AJ really proves how incredible she is at the job, making him feel all woozy inside. This week, Davis is the most annoying character, making me realize he might be the Ross of this show. There is a deal involving the company Spanx, but they are not willing to work with Fisher Stassen because Bill insulted the owner of the company, the Cinchery, Chrys Lee. Additionally, for some reason, there are no women on the team talking to Spanx, and AJ sees this as an opportunity to insert herself into this big deal and make a good impression. It’s very smart of her to do this, because as soon as Sarah sees a woman in the office, she says she wants her on the team. AJ takes it upon herself to sort out the Bill problem, even though Davis is entirely against this idea and thinks she’s overstepping.

But still, she drags him (because nobody else will join her) to a Pilates class that she has found out Chrys Lee will be attending. When they get there, Davis is still being a prick about her stepping out of her lane to close this deal by herself even though she’s a junior. However, she straight up asks Chrys about why she won’t work with Fisher Stassen, and she tells them it’s because of Bill, and how he insulted her college project, saying nobody cares about girdles. AJ invites her to meet with the team anyway, because she thinks it’s a good deal, and when she gets back to the office, she immediately tells Bill that he needs to apologize to Chrys if they wanna save the deal. At first, he’s insulted by the idea of someone like AJ telling him what to do, but then he realizes she’s right. Finally, when Chrys and her mum show up (they’re co-owners), Bill starts off by talking about how things can be misconstrued, but then with one look from AJ, he realizes he should apologize, and that’s what he does, sincerely. Additionally, AJ has the genius idea of putting the whole team in said girdles, and it works like a charm. This whole deal leaves Bill very impressed by AJ, and so he decides to act on his feelings for her right at the office, when it’s just the two of them. However, the next few days at work, he ignores AJ like nothing ever happened, and this leaves her confused, to the point she thinks he’s realized they shouldn’t be having an office romance. But by the end of episode 5, he shows up at her door and tells her that the only mistake they made was kissing at the office, and then he asks her out.

Is Davis A Misogynist?

Yes, absolutely. I’m just kidding, but he kind of is, though. Anyway, in this episode, everytime Davis notices AJ doing well, even though he keeps telling her she shouldn’t be overstepping, he starts to fall a little bit out of love with her. But, as time passes, and after a very important conversation with the guys, he quickly picks up on how stupid he’s been. Additionally, when AJ needs a distraction from Bill, she decides to help Davis with an ex who he claims is upset with him for no reason. When AJ meets with this woman, she learns that Davis made it seem like they were in it for the long haul, even getting a pitbull together and naming him Post Malone. By the end of this arc, Davis is brought to his senses, and he realizes he loves “capable ladies.”

Is Abby Still Working For Vanessa?

In episodes 4 and 5, Austin is determined to get Abby to work with him as his stylist rather than just as Vanessa’s assistant. While Abby is flattered, she really trusts Vanessa’s judgment, and has already set an official boundary. However, after some thought and when Austin suggests he’s considering switching to another stylist, she decides to give it a go, but then she learns that Vanessa’s cat has just died and she’s meant to write the eulogy. Because Vanessa’s already upset, Abby decides not to tell her about the arrangement, and then she ends up styling him anyway. After a while, when she decides to go see Vanessa about this, the latter already knows, and wishes her good luck without any further discussion. You can tell immediately how disappointed she is, and Abby has no choice but to walk away with a sad smile on her face. I do think Vanessa will come around to taking Abby back in. Additionally, we already know that Austin is in love with Abby, so he’s likely going to not care about her styling journey once she says yes to him.

Does Kel tell Abby about Austin’s Feelings For Her?

Kel’s story in episodes 4 and 5 starts with the rumor of a jaw surgery, because of a little modeling job he did recently. When his parents find out, they show up immediately, and he tells them that he’s quit med school to become a full-time actor. This is obviously too much of an insult for them to handle, so they leave without further discussion. Now he’s left with zero out of two parents talking to him. Amidst this tension, he’s looking to get acting roles or acting lessons, but he’s not getting any, so he decides he needs an agent. He realizes he can ask Abby to get help from Austin regarding the same. When Abby texts Austin, he replies immediately, because he already has an idea brewing in his head. He meets Kel at a cafe and tells him that he can hook him up with his own agent, on the condition that he hypes him up to Abby. Man, I thought I liked Austin, but I guess I don’t. Fortunately, in the ending of episode 5, Kel decides not to tell Abby that Austin’s obsessed with her, because it feels too transactional, plus like Davis says, love always wins. I do like Kel and Abby, so that’ll be fun to see unfold. Also, I know I haven’t mentioned Josh at all in this article, but not much happens with him except for the fact that we find out Paula still hates him, but he’s now kinda dating Elena.

Episodes 4 And 5 Review

I continue to enjoy Not Suitable For Work, partially because of how stunning the two female leads are. Is this how people felt when they were watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S back in the day? No, I still don’t think this is a F.R.I.E.N.D.S ripoff, but hey, whatever it takes to get you watching. In these two episodes, Davis has been entirely unamusing. I hope he gets better soon, or he might become one of the most annoying characters TV has ever seen. Fine, I’m exaggerating a little bit, but he’s really getting on my nerves. On the other hand, I’m really enjoying AJ’s character, and I would really like to see her interacting more with Josh. I do think I would like to see more of the whole gang hanging out rather than just fractions, because that’s what makes the show very endearing.
