KUCHING, Nov 22: The Redeems Centre in Singai, Bau, will come alive with festivities during the Bau Youth Carnival 2024 from November 29 to December 1, 2024.

Deputy Minister of Transport (Maritime and Riverine) and Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep said the family-friendly event will feature a variety of games and competitions for all age groups, celebrating Bau’s rich cultural heritage and innovation while fostering community pride and cohesion.

“The whole idea is to provide opportunities for our youths to organise events.

“We want them to gradually take the lead in such initiatives, allowing them to play an active role in society and engage with their peers,” he said during a press conference held at the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) office today.

He added that the carnival would serve as a platform to nurture local talents and strengthen community bonds.

Among the event highlights are a beauty pageant competition, Belia Bau Idol singing competition, fitness programme and Zumba, auto show, community outreach programme, football competition, local artist concerts, and food and craft stalls.

Joseph E.R.A Ningkan, the carnival’s organising chairman, revealed that the event’s outreach programmes will include a registration counter by the Bau District Social Welfare Department to assist with welfare aid applications and Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) registrations for senior citizens.

Additionally, the Bau District Health Office will offer free health screenings to promote wellness. The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) will set up a job registration counter to connect attendees with employment opportunities.

Meanwhile, ASIANA Hospitality Academy and the Community Development and Intervention Centre (CDIC) will provide resources and training information for those seeking personal and professional development.

The carnival is organised by Kelab Rekreasi Mas Moyan Kuching and supported by various partners, including the New Sarawak Tribune, BH Clinic, Faeez, Dressy Tales, VyenLya Collaboration with AIM.CO, WazeMix Productions Sdn Bhd, and Nexvibe Sdn Bhd.

Admission is free.
