Love Indonesian music and find yourself jealous of those who get to attend Pestapora in Jakarta? ???????????? Then, good news for you because Pestapora is coming to Malaysia’s doorstep!
Brought to you by Hitman Solutions and the creators of the original Pestapora, Boss Creator, Latihan Pestapora Malaysia is both a concert AND a platform for cultural exchange within the Nusantara region via the power of music!
For those not familiar with Pestapora, it’s a popular annual 3-day music festival in Jakarta, which features live performances by artists of different music genres. As an ode to the original Pestapora, Latihan Pestapora Malaysia represents an opportunity for fans to experience a rare preview of the main Pestapora festival taking place in Jakarta this September.
Featuring a lineup of Indonesian and Malaysian artists ????????????????, here are some of the live performances you can look forward to:
1. Sheila on 7
Consisting of members Eross, Duta, and Adam, Sheila on 7 is considered one of the most legendary alternative rock bands from Indonesia. With songs that resonate with a wide audience, particularly young people and those nostalgic for their youth, their music often reflects the hopefulness and joy of youth, while also exploring emotions like love and loss, with numbers such as “Bila Kau Tak Disampingku” and “Seberapa Pantas”.
Sheila on 7 were announced as part of the festival’s Phase 2 lineup to immense hype, especially because their last appearance in Malaysia was way back in 2018. With the longest set time at the festival of 90 minutes, find out what all the noise is about when you see them at Latihan Pestapora Malaysia!
2. Bittersweet
Formed in 2004 by friends Herri and Zabil as a love letter to late 90s Britpop, Bittersweet went on to develop a unique sound in the form of rich tube-driven guitars and sparse horns, as heard in tunes such as “Capital E” and “1234”.Their unique upbeat take on Britpop is considered refreshing compared to their more melancholic counterparts within the genre, earning them a dedicated fanbase within Malaysia’s music scene.
As one of the heavy-hitting acts at Latihan Pestapora Malaysia, their upcoming performance will be a must-watch!
3. .Feast
.Feast (spelt with a dot in front to differentiate from other similarly named artists) is an Indonesian quintet known for brilliantly mashing together elements of rock, indie, and traditional Indonesian music. Plus, their lyrics often address social and political issues, making them a voice for change and a source of inspiration for those seeking social justice.
Get ready for a 45-minute musical .Feast when you check them out live at Latihan Pestapora Malaysia!
4. Salammusik
Salammusik is beloved among Malaysians for their renegade musical stylings, which encompass traditional Malay music, reggae, hip-hop, and rock (among other genres). In addition to experimenting with different genres with songs such as “Alamak”, “Aku Pelat”, and “Terima Kasih”, the band also inspires listeners with themes like peace, environment, love, and unity.
Strap up for a fun time with Salammusik at Latihan Pestapora Malaysia; you’ll be saying “Terima Kasih” to them right after!
5. Nadin Amizah
Hailing from Bandung, Nadin Amizah first dabbled in music by uploading covers of popular songs on social media during her teen years. After collaborating with electronic music producer Dipha Barus on the song “All Good”, Nadin went down the route of writing folk music and has never looked back ever since.
Now, with countless singles and two full-length albums to her name, her poetic lyricism and ethereal voice are two of the many reasons you should check out her live performance at Latihan Pestapora!
6. DOLLA
Taking inspiration from girl groups around the world (especially those under the Kpop umbrella), DOLLA is known for their strong performance style, daring image, and unique take on international musical trends from a Malaysian lens. They caught a lot of Malaysians’ attention with their viral “Raya Raya Raya” song, but many listeners got hooked on this trio thanks to bangers such as “BAD”, “CLASSIC”, and “Berani”.
Whether you’re an ‘iDOLLA’ or a casual listener, this girlboss group’s set at Latihan Pestapora is going to be absolutely unmissable!
