'Community Squad' Season 2 Recap: Did Felipe And Sofia End Up Together?

Community Squad season 2 begins from where it left off in the previous season. Felipe was basking in the glory of being a common Urban Guard yet being able to expose the most dreaded drug syndicate in town. His superiors had high hopes for him, and everybody felt that he would become the lead coordinator of the organization. But that didn’t happen, and moreover, he found himself in yet another crisis. So let’s find out how Felipe tackled that situation and if he was able to emerge victorious like last time.

Spoiler Alert

How did Felipe become an intelligence agent?

As we had stated in the Community Squad season 1 recap, Felipe did get an offer to join the intelligence services. A woman named Arellano felt that he was a good fit for the agency, since he was not very good-looking and had a forgetful face. He didn’t know if he was being insulted, but he was happy that he would be able to make a difference through his work. Felipe was asked to not tell his colleagues about his intelligence work and that he needed to operate in secret. He was given the task of keeping an eye on Milton, who was the owner of a coffee shop in Palermo. Arellano believed that the coffee shop was just a front and that he was involved in some illegitimate activities together with some influential people. Felipe almost blew his cover on his first day on the job, and he realized that day that he was not a very good agent. Moreover, he didn’t like the fact that he had to lie to Sofia, who didn’t understand why he was acting so strange. Milton realized, looking at Felipe, that he was up to something, and so he asked him not to come to his cafe ever again. Meanwhile, after the heroics Felipe had shown in the first season by catching the drug smugglers, his name was being proposed for the position of lead coordinator. But another Jewish guy, who’d just joined the organization, stole his thunder and left an impression on everybody through his leadership qualities. That Urban Guard was named David Schwartz, and Jose Figueroa, the head of the community squad, was so impressed by him that he decided to make him the lead coordinator. David was able to negotiate with a bunch of protestors who didn’t feel that the community squad was being inclusive enough, and he also was able to control his colleagues who’d started quarreling with each other over some petty issue. Felipe obviously felt jealous, but he didn’t have much of a choice. Felipe had a hunch that he would be fired from the intelligence agency since he was not a good spy, but then something unprecedented happened.

Were the Koreans able to get their money back?

The Korean gang, headed by Chang Cho and Kim Wong, was trying to find out which of all the Urban Guards had their money. They got intel that their money was either with the blind guy, Edgar, or the Jewish one, i.e., Felipe. What they didn’t know was that another Jewish man had joined the community squad. When they reached the community squad headquarters, they saw David coming out of the office, and they felt that he was their guy. Kim shouted, “Hey, Jew,” and David obviously stopped, as he also felt it was strange that somebody referred to him in such a disrespectful manner. Before David could say anything, Kim killed him, since he lost his temper. Soon, Kim and Chang Cho realized that they had killed the wrong man, and so they started following Felipe, which led them to Milton’s Cafe, where Felipe had gone to collect intel. The Korean gang didn’t know that Milton too was a criminal, and he was quite capable of taking somebody’s life. One day, Kim and Chang Cho reached the cafe, and they threatened both Felipe and Milton, believing that they were working together. Felipe, quite smartly, was able to pass Milton a gun that was lying on the floor. Milton, in the blink of an eye, picked it up and shot both the Koreans dead. That day, Milton was quite impressed by Felipe’s presence of mind. He told Felipe to work for him, and the latter knew he didn’t have any choice in the matter. The drug money was actually in Edgar’s possession, and he had managed to keep it a secret up until then.

Why Did Sofia Start Dating Another Guy?

All Felipe was trying to do was to hide the fact that he had started working for an intelligence agency, but the way he conducted himself made Sofia feel like he wasn’t interested in her. She was under the impression that after she had refused to come over to his place to spend pre-Passover with his family, he had started to feel that she was not interested in him. Sofia wanted to make sure that her bluntness wasn’t taken in the wrong manner, and to compensate for her rudeness, she went over to his place without telling him. That night, Felipe didn’t return to his place, since he was stuck with Miguel and the Korean gang, but obviously Sofia felt that he was avoiding her. Sofia was obviously angry. She knew that she was probably not the most expressive person, but still she expected Felipe to understand that she too had feelings for him. Around that time, Sofia met another Urban Guard, Nacho, who was also wheelchair-ridden. Sofia felt attracted to him and ended up getting intimate with him. Felipe accidentally came to know about it when he overheard Sofia talking to other people. He was angry and bashed her for indulging with another man just days after they had broken up. Felipe was working up the courage to tell Sofia that he was working as an agent, which was why he was behaving in such a strange manner. He wanted to tell her that he was feeling pressured by all the missions he had to carry out, but obviously at that point in time he could not reveal all those things to her.

Why did Miguel get fired from his job?

Miguel took his job as an Urban Guard very seriously, but multiple times in season 2, he felt sidelined and also, to an extent, insecure about being replaced by other people. In season 2, episode 3, Betty, who was an integral part of the team and who handled the inventory, was made to resign. An AI machine named “Botty” was brought in, that was capable of doing all the administrative chores quite efficiently. After a day or two, Miguel realized that the machine was even capable of replacing him, and its presence made him very insecure. He had literally nothing to do throughout the day, and he wanted to do something about it. So he set the machine on fire and then rehired Betty. Also, prior to all that, we had seen how Jose had given preference to David over Miguel, and he had felt a bit hurt, probably because he had served in the organization for such a long time and he was the most senior member present there. But things really went downhill after a few specially abled people decided to rob a bank in broad daylight. Actually, these were the same people who had come to protest in front of the Urban Guards’ office at the beginning of season 2. We got to know that it was David who instigated them to do something that they were passionate about since they had much more caliber and potential than the Urban Guards. Quite hilariously, they followed their passion and decided to rob a bank. The law enforcement officers, together with the Urban Guards, were present at the crime scene. Miguel probably didn’t want the robbers or anybody else to get hurt or to become collateral damage. He wanted to solve the problem at hand without any casualties. It’s likely he had a soft corner for the robbers who were specially abled, or maybe he was just a kind man who just didn’t want anybody to lose their lives. So he went up to the robbers and convinced them to escape from the bank using a back door. Not long after that, Miguel’s superiors realized what he had done, and Jose decided to fire him. Miguel was disappointed, as all he had wanted was to avoid loss of life. He went back to doing theater, which had always been his passion. He missed his team, he missed interacting with them, and he missed directing them, but he knew that he would have to let go of his past and just focus on his theater productions.

Was Felipe able to expose Navarro and Felipe?

There was a man named Leo who worked at Milton’s cafe. He found Felipe’s rough book in which he had made all the notes when he had arrived at the coffee shop on the first day of his job as an agent. Leo told Felipe that he would help him out if he offered him state immunity and assured him that he wouldn’t have to face any legal consequences. Leo was killed by Milton, but fortunately the latter didn’t suspect Felipe at that point in time. Arellano asked Felipe to get her some incriminating evidence, and so he reached Milton’s den wearing a wire. Felipe once again got lucky as the politician, Navarro, who was running for the post of mayor, arrived at the cafe. Felipe got to know that Milton laundered money, and he used it to fund the politician’s campaign. Apart from that, the man had hidden a room in the basement of the cafe, where he, Navarro, and other influential men and women indulged in all sorts of intimate activities to satiate their carnal desires. Felipe was able to record everything, and luckily Arellano received all those recordings and got to know about what the politician was up to.

Felipe had done the right thing: he had given a letter to Estanbe, and he hoped that somehow it would reach Sofia and she would get to know how much he loved her. Sofia did get that letter, and she was smart enough to understand that Felipe was stuck in an untoward situation at the cafe.

Meanwhile, Sosa and Pound, two agents who worked together with Arellano, shot her dead as they felt that they would benefit more if they were able to enter into terms with Navarro and Milton. Sosa and Pound reached the cafe, and they told Navarro that the evidence they had procured would vanish forever if he gave them a share of the profit that he was going to make. Navarro negotiated with them but then ultimately agreed to their proposal. Call it fate, but just before taking her last breaths, Arellano was able to send all those recordings to Jose, and so the Urban Guards came to know that one of their own was in danger. Everybody knew that there was only one man who was foolish enough to risk his life and lead the squad to save Felipe’s life. Miguel was given a call, and he very excitedly left everything behind and came to the scene. Together with Sofia and Estanbe, Miguel raided Milton’s cafe, and at the end he was able to rescue Felipe. Sofia got shot, but she fortunately was able to survive.

The most bizarre twist came at the end when the people of Palermo, even after witnessing what Navarro had done, chose him to be their mayor. They felt that at least the man was true to their face, even if he was corrupt and a criminal. They felt that that was then the best they could do, and they wouldn’t be in the dark in the future. The first thing that Navarro did after being elected as the mayor was dissolve the community squad, maybe because he didn’t want good Samaritans sticking their noses in his business. As for Milton, he was already dreaming of expanding his business when Kim Wong’s son, who had seen his family being murdered in front of his own eyes, came to take revenge on him. The Korean boy killed Milton and then clicked a picture, probably to show his people what he was capable of doing.

Did Felipe and Sofia Get Back Together?

At the end of Community Squad season 2, Edgar and Paloma offered for their colleagues to work at their cafe, which they were opening using the drug money that Edgar had procured in the first season. Felipe and Sofia did end up together, though I don’t know how long they’ll be able to lead a normal lifestyle. I don’t think Felipe will be able to keep himself out of trouble for long, and it is just a matter of time before he finds himself amidst another critical situation.
