MORE than 100 members of the MADANI Government, including Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament, gathered in Port Dickson today for the Ukhuwah Kepimpinan Kerajaan MADANI programme, engaging directly with local communities in a wide-ranging show of unity and service.
The full-day event, held in conjunction with the MADANI Government Administration and Parliamentarians’ Retreat, aimed to foster a culture of inclusivity, community spirit, and direct engagement between national leaders and the people.
“This is the first time that ministers and MPs from the MADANI Government across the country have come together to join a village kenduri with the people,” said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
The retreat kicked off in the morning with gotong-royong activities, where Cabinet members including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil visited the MADANI Community Prosperity Programme site in Kampung Sawah. The delegation also included Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and several other senior ministers.
At Kampung Teluk Pelandok, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi and Human Resources Minister Steven Sim joined residents in repainting the local jetty and interacting with local fishermen. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari also attended, lending his support to the event.
“This programme gave us the opportunity to understand local livelihoods and economic potential, such as homestays,” said Saifuddin. “MADANI is not just about developing a nation, but about empowering individuals.”
One of the day’s highlights was the participation of 37 MPs in a mosque refurbishment project at the Army Basic Training Centre (PUSASDA), joined by Fadillah, Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari, and Selangor’s Amirudin. The mosque, capable of accommodating over 3,500 worshippers, received praise from Army Training and Doctrine Commander Maj Gen Datuk Marzuki Mokhtar, who welcomed the effort to improve the facility.
Community-centric initiatives featured prominently, including the free distribution of 3,000 fresh chickens, Rahmah sales stalls, and kenduri rakyat (community feasts), allowing for meaningful interaction between leaders and the public.
At the closing event in Kampung Pachitan, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim praised the coalition government’s unity.
“Alhamdulillah, although we are a coalition of parties with different stances and beliefs, the spirit to develop the country makes the cooperation and spirit extraordinary,” he said. “I want to thank Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and all other colleagues for their unwavering spirit of unity.”
Anwar, who was accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, emphasised the need for the government to remain grounded.
“Although macroeconomic indicators show improvement – stronger investments and lower unemployment – we know many people at the grassroots still face hardship,” he said. “The MADANI Government is a government that cares… We must listen to the people and never lose sight of their voices.”
A total of 143 MPs took part in the Ukhuwah MADANI initiative, marking a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen ties between the government and the people it serves. - July 20, 2025
