Boy's body found buried: Father remanded, claims son disappeared while left in car

A FATHER who reported his son missing after he was left in the car while he went to buy food last week has been remanded for seven days after police found the body of a boy buried in Rompin, Jempol, Negeri Sembilan yesterday.
Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan said the 36-year-old man reported his six-year-old son missing at 2.15am on Thursday.
According to him, the father said his son was missing at around 6pm in the Bukit Indah area on Wednesday.
"The complainant claimed that the victim disappeared while left alone in a car parked in the area while he went to buy food.
“The father of the missing child was arrested on Thursday and is currently being remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for a period of seven days until July 31,” he said.
He said that further investigations led to the discovery of the body of a boy in the Rompin area, Negeri Sembilan yesterday.
"The suspect has no previous criminal record, and his urine was found to be negative for drugs.
"The investigation is being conducted under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001 for abusing, neglecting, abandoning or exposing a child.
"If convicted, the offender can be fined up to RM20,000 or imprisoned for up to 10 years or both," he said.
He explained that further investigations have been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Division of the Jempol District Police Headquarters, Negeri Sembilan.
However, the Iskandar Puteri District Police will continue the investigation from the aspect of the false report by the suspect regarding the disappearance of his child under Section 182 of the Penal Code.
Prior to that, Negeri Sembilan Police Chief, Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof informed that the Jempol District Police Headquarters received information regarding the discovery of the body at 4.30 pm on Monday. - July 29, 2025
