KUCHING, July 29: Malaysia is expected to raise key matters involving border issues and Asean-level cooperation in renewable power generation and distribution during a high-level meeting with Indonesian authorities today.
This comes as Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg began the day of his working visit to Indonesia with a private discussion over breakfast with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the hotel where the Malaysian leader is staying in the Indonesian capital.
Also present in the six-eye meeting was Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Mohd Noor.
According to a statement today, the closed-door session served as a preparatory discussion ahead of the annual consultative meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto later today.
While no official details have been released, it is believed the trio discussed several matters of bilateral interest and strategic importance, particularly relating to the Malaysia-Indonesia border and collaborative efforts in renewable energy.
Following the morning discussion, the Malaysian delegation proceeded to the Istana Merdeka where Indonesian President is scheduled to host the visiting leaders for official talks.
The Premier of Sarawak and his delegation had arrived in Jakarta on Monday morning (July 28), ahead of the Prime Minister’s delegation, which landed later that night. — DayakDaily
