THE six-year-old boy who was murdered and his body buried by the roadside close to Rompin in Negeri Sembilan yesterday, died of strangulation.
The results of the post-mortem on the body of the victim at the Rembau Hospital which began at noon today, confirmed that the cause of death was due to pressure from strangulation using a cable tie (pengikat kabel).
This was confirmed by Negeri Sembilan Police Chief, Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof when contacted by Harian Metro today.
According to him, the police have now opened two investigation papers involving the Children's Act 2001 and Section 302 of the Penal Code.
"The initial case is being investigated by the Johor police contingent involving Section 31(1)(a) of the Children's Act 2001, while the murder is being investigated by the Negeri Sembilan contingent.
"Currently, the suspect is still being remanded in Johor, and we are calling witnesses to assist in the investigation, especially the victim's mother," he said.
It is understood that the mother of the victim was at the hospital since 8am.
She, accompanied by other family members, came from Johor Bahru to claim the body.
The child's uncle said that family members, especially the victim's mother, had difficulty accepting what happened, especially if it was done by the victim's own father.
He, affectionately called 'Tata', said that the victim's mother had lost her appetite since losing her child and was crying all the time.
"Normally, we would feel sad when we hear about cases (of abuse) involving children. But today it happened to us.
"I have a hard time sleeping because I remember him so clearly. When I close my eyes, his face appears in the shadows. We were close, and he (the victim) calls me 'Tata' (grandpa)," he said. – July 29, 2025
