'The Buccaneers' Season 2 Episode 7 Ending Explained & Finale Theories
2 days ago
The ending of The Buccaneers season 2 episode 7 proves that the moment you find yourself a bit too happy, something has to go wrong. There are two major plot points that still have to be addressed in the final episode: the Lizzy and Theo situation, and the Guy and Paloma situation, both involving Nan. The 7th episode focuses on Richard’s wake and Patti’s court case against Tracy. We finally get to see a bit more of Leighton Meester’s Nell in this episode. I’ve been dying to see her since she showed up at the beginning of the second season. We also get a glimpse of New York for the first time in a really long time (unless you’re also watching The Gilded Age, eh?). Honestly, I found myself seriously frustrated at a lot of points throughout this episode, but especially in the moment where Tracy truly believes he’s better than all the women in his family. But I won’t turn this into a rant, so let’s dive into episode 7.
Spoiler Alert
Are Conchita and Jinny okay? The reason Conchita’s been unable to look at Jinny since Richard’s death is not because she blames her as the reason her husband is dead. I suppose the real problem here is that Conchita needs her sister and friend, but Jinny’s behaving too much like a stranger by expecting her to grieve like a widow, which is the furthest from what she wants. But eventually, after Jinny confronts Conchita and she lashes out at her, she comes back with some gorgeous-looking cakes to make amends. This episode definitely feels more reminiscent of the first season of the show, where the plot was quite miserable, but we were made to believe that these girls could endure anything.
After Conchita and Jinny make up, the girls also seem much happier, and everything seems to go back to normal. Well, as normal as it can get. Meanwhile, Honoria decides to tell her mum that she’s going to go to France, because Conchita is so kind that she is willing to look after her terrible mother-in-law for Honoria’s freedom. But even when Honoria’s excited about what she wants to do and live the life she’s dreamt for herself, Mrs. Brightlingsea is a terrible mum and decides to insult her dreams as well. This is when Honoria tells her mum she’s going to surprise her, to which the latter says that’s an impossible task. So, with no hesitation, Honoria walks up to Mabel and kisses her right there, not just in front of her mother but also the other girls. It’s nice to see that the girls finally know about them and seem happy for her. I guess Conchita had an idea of what might’ve been going on, but Jinny must’ve been super shocked for sure. Honoria’s definitely destined for great things, but I worry Conchita is going to have a tough time looking after the mother.
I don’t think we can expect a lot from the final episode in this regard, but maybe we’ll see her change eventually. Old habits die hard though, and this woman has never been kindhearted. I bet she’s going to project her hatred toward Jinny, too. Ironically, she’ll just have to keep quiet between the two bestie sisters-in-law (Jinny and Conchita).
What Happens In Court?Ultimately, Patti is able to get a divorce thanks to her sister, Nell, admitting to everything about her affair in court, and even telling her husband about Tracy. It’s really sweet to see Arthur supporting her through such a difficult situation, but Nell deserves a happy life, and she’s going to get exactly that. Meanwhile, Nan and Patti decide to head back to England to see Jinny. When they get there, everything seems great. Patti finally gets to see her grandson, and she looks overjoyed, but what about Nan? Guy shows up in New York sometime during the divorce trial to support Nan, but he himself has forgotten an important piece of information after leaving Italy. They spend their time in New York like a married couple, occasionally hand in hand, hugging in front of everyone, and nobody bats an eye. Or so they think. In truth, many have noticed them, and it’s definitely going to blow up in the final episode. But to add to that, Paloma shows up and introduces herself to Nan as Guy’s wife.
See, Paloma knows who Nan is; she knows the whole story, so this seems to mean war. But to add to this, Nan’s just found out that the woman Theo is seeing is Lizzy. Also, Theo now believes that Lizzy is the love of his life, as he’s said to his mum, who has returned to the castle. Yeah, I wonder what Lizzy thinks. Now this is likely going to become big news, considering Nan isn’t the only one who knows; Hector has a hunch, too. Since Nan and Theo are married, it’s likely the Lizzy situation is going to take center stage over the Guy situation. But I really don’t know what Nan’s going to do; she has to give Lizzy and Theo her blessing, doesn’t she? Plus, this is a fictional story. But with Guy, I don’t know how things are going to move forward, especially after he told her that it was always her. All of these people have made some sort of sacrifice for others. I really don’t know how they’re going to find it in themselves to fix their own futures. It must be quite exhausting. I, for one, don’t expect Paloma to walk out without a fight, but also, what will Guy do in this situation? This is the bit that has me most confused. What do y’all think is going to happen in the season finale? Will Nan get a happy ending?
