Shangri-La Kuala LumpurThis Merdeka, treat yourself to a truly authentic culinary adventure through our nation with its heritage buffet at Lemon Garden, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. With live cooking stalls made to resemble Malaysian food markets, get lost in the aromas of dishes like the Sarawakian Manok Pansuh (chicken slow-cooked with herbs in bamboo) or watch as chefs prepare every variation of the beloved laksa noodles before your eyes. You can end the evening on a high, and very Malaysian, note with the durian dessert selection, where the fruit takes the form of parfait, trifle, and even tiramisu! Inside ScoopThe beloved Malaysian ice cream chain writes its own love letter to Malaysia this Merdeka with new limited-edition flavours. In collaboration with six iconic homegrown brands, Inside Scoop combines nostalgia and pride in these creamy scoops. The series comprises: Farm Fresh Choco Malt Kaw, Beryl’s Gula Melaka Chocolate, Twiggies Choc-A-Lot, ZUS’ Spanish Latte, GSC Cinemas’ Caramel Popcorn, and Julie’s Le-mond Lemon. Each flavour is made with nothing but milk and the respective star ingredient, all churned to perfection. These scoops are available individually or as part of a Lokal Legends party pack, which includes all six.

Fifty TalesFifty Tales is celebrating with none other than a bowl of its signature noodles, aptly called “The Merdeka”. An homage to Malaysia’s cultural diversity, the noodles are tossed in a glossy curry and topped with perfectly caramelised pork slices and ulam To help you wash down your bites, an accompanying bowl of rasam broth with dumplings is served.

OolamBringing a modern touch of elegance to classic Malaysian flavours, Oolam pays tribute to the spirit of our Malaysian identity with a limited-time menu. The spread features crispy cucur udang with sweet chili, an ox tongue satay padang, sup ekor utara, and ayam kampung salai masak lemak umbat kelapa. Its festive menu also includes Senja and Embun, a cocktail duo that uses tuak as their base.

Lachér PatisserieLachér Patisserie is celebrating this Merdeka with an exclusive white coffee hazelnut cake creation, inspired by Malaysians’ favourite kopi. It starts with a nutty hazelnut sponge that is then topped with condensed milk-inspired crémeux and layered with a Valrhona Jivara coffee ganache atop a crunchy hazelnut praline. The cake is finished with a coffee bean-infused white coffee mousse. Complemented with a layer each of Valrhona Jivara coffee ganache and crunchy hazelnut praline.
