According to fresh data from the Department of Veterinary Services, local production is running smoothly, ensuring that consumers won’t have to worry about shortages in the market.
Subsidies adjusted, but supply guaranteedThe announcement comes after the restructuring of egg subsidies that took effect on August 1, 2025.
With the move, industry players are expected to gradually align prices in the open market based on current production levels.
While this may mean some adjustments in prices, KPKM stressed that this is part of the market’s natural mechanism and won’t compromise egg availability for Malaysians.
All grades still availableBased on KPKM’s checks, eggs of Grade A, B, and C remain readily available at supermarkets.
Even “special grade” eggs, which are typically more affordable, can still be found in reasonable quantities.
KPKM added that monitoring will continue to ensure production remains consistent. The ministry also highlighted its Jualan Agro MADANI initiative, which helps reduce the rakyat’s cost of living by offering essential items — including eggs — at lower prices.
Watchdogs on the groundMeanwhile, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will keep a close eye on prices. Authorities will take firm action against profiteering, hoarding, or unreasonable price hikes under existing laws.
