KUCHING, Aug 30: Sarawakian hammer thrower Grace Wong rewrote her own record books at the Malaysian Open in Perlis today.

According to The Star, the 25-year-old impressed with a 63.53m throw on her second attempt at the Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium in Kangar, eclipsing her previous record of 62.48m from the 2021 Malaysian Open in Bukit Jalil.

Wong’s powerful throw sealed the gold, leaving Algeria’s Zahra Tatar (61.37m) and South Korea’s Park Seo-jin (59.13m) trailing behind.

This achievement is a significant confidence boost for Grace, surpassing her earlier season-best throw of 59.15m recorded at the Asian Track and Field Championships in Gumi, South Korea, back in May. — DayakDaily
