BINTULU (Oct 8): Marine Police personnel detained two local men along the Bintulu-Miri coastal road on Tuesday for unlawfully transporting nearly 900 litres of diesel.
Sarawak Marine Police commander ACP Ab Rahman Mat Hasan said the duo was driving separate vehicles when they were stopped around 10am during an Op Taring Landai operation conducted by personnel from the Bintulu Marine Intelligence Unit.
“The drivers of the two vehicles – a lorry and a pickup truck – were found to be transporting large quantities of diesel.
“Both of them failed to produce any valid documents related to the ownership or transport of the controlled item,” he said in a statement, adding the total value of the seizure is estimated at RM114,437.
Ab Rahman said the suspects were detained to assist investigations under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for possession of controlled goods without authorisation or valid permit.
The case has been handed over to the Bintulu branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living for further action.
