Rafizi announces openings of Fleximart and Kesum with affordable RM5 meals and groceries

PANDAN Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli will introduce two social enterprise concept stores, Fleximart and Kesum, which sell food and goods at affordable prices under RM5.

The former Economy Minister said that the two main initiatives under Ayuh Malaysia will begin opening to the public on November 1 and November 8 respectively.

According to Rafizi, Fleximart is a convenience store that focuses on ready-made food under RM5, in addition to offering other grocery items at low prices.

"Kesum is a 'value meal' restaurant with the concept of 'originally full, delicious and cheap' in conjunction with kesum leaves and the abbreviation for full, delicious and cheap.

"Kesum will sell breakfast, lunch and dinner at prices below RM5," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

He explained that both stores use the concept of social enterprise, which is a partnership between capital contributors and workers.

“The profits will be shared between the capital contributors, the workers and the public. The more profits, the higher the workers’ salaries and some of the profits will be donated back so that prices can be kept low.

“I don’t know if the model that was first created for these shops will be successful. My intention is to open up more job opportunities for young people and help the public by offering food and goods at cheaper prices.

“If the two social experiments are successful, we have a better chance of expanding to more branches,” he said.

He said that more branches open means more low-price offers can be given and more young people are trained to own and operate their own businesses.

“I invite the public to attend the opening of Fleximart on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 10 am at No. 35, Jalan Plumbum U7/U, Section 7, Shah Alam (next to Speedmart).

“Kesum will open on November 8, 2025 at 9 am at No. 25, Jalan Pandan Indah 1/20, Pandan Indah (next to KM Bistro).

"Insya-Allah, I will make coffee, prepare food and be part of the Fleximart and Kesum crew that day,” he said. - October 28, 2025
