Samsung’s next flagship has answered one of the most persistent questions Galaxy users ask every year: Snapdragon or Exynos?

Regulatory filings have now provided a clear answer for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and it’s one that should reassure most buyers.

Snapdragon Confirmed For Galaxy S26 Ultra

Recent FCC certification documents in the United States list two Galaxy S26 Ultra model numbers: SM-S948B and SM-S948U. The “B” variant refers to the global unlocked model, while the “U” variant is designated for US carriers.

Both listings reference the SM8850 chipset, which corresponds to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This confirms that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will use Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor globally, with no regional chipset split.

This continues Samsung’s recent approach to its Ultra models. While the Galaxy S22 Ultra in 2022 shipped with different processors depending on region, the S23 Ultra, S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra all used Snapdragon chipsets exclusively. The S26 Ultra maintains this consistency.

No Chipset Details Yet For S26 And S26 Plus

The FCC documents do not disclose chipset information for the standard Galaxy S26 or Galaxy S26 Plus models. Samsung has not confirmed which processors these devices will use, or whether availability will vary by region.

In previous generations, Samsung has deployed different chipsets for its non-Ultra models depending on market, while keeping the Ultra model consistent globally. Whether this strategy continues for the S26 lineup remains unconfirmed.

60W Wired Charging Confirmed Via 3C Certification

Beyond the processor confirmation, China’s 3C certification database has revealed another notable upgrade. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, listed under model number SM-S9480 for the Chinese market, supports 60W wired charging.

This marks Samsung’s first increase in wired charging speeds since the Galaxy Note 10 Plus introduced 45W charging in 2019.

Samsung has traditionally taken a conservative approach to charging speeds, prioritising battery longevity over faster top-ups. The certification suggests a shift in that balance, addressing one of the brand’s long-standing criticisms.

However, the certification confirms wired charging capability only; Samsung has not disclosed official charging times or wireless charging specifications.

The same 3C listing also confirms satellite connectivity support for the Chinese variant, similar to what Samsung has implemented on recent Ultra models.

Connectivity And Hardware Features

FCC documentation confirms standard flagship connectivity features for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, including:

The filings also reference Qualcomm Smart Transmit Plus, a feature designed to optimise signal transmission across both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G networks.

What’s Confirmed — And What Isn’t

Based on regulatory filings, two key aspects of the Galaxy S26 Ultra are now confirmed. The two would be globally consistent Snapdragon chipset and faster wired charging.

Other details — including camera hardware, software features, pricing, launch timing and regional availability for the rest of the S26 lineup — have not yet been officially announced by Samsung.

The filings provide clear answers to two major questions surrounding the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung is committing to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 worldwide, eliminating regional performance differences for its top-tier model. At the same time, the introduction of 60W wired charging represents Samsung’s most meaningful charging upgrade in years.

These changes are evolutionary rather than disruptive, but they directly address areas where Samsung has faced sustained criticism. For buyers considering the S26 Ultra, the confirmed chipset and charging upgrades establish a solid baseline for what to expect from Samsung’s 2026 flagship.
