Prime Video Greenlights New God Of War Series

Prime Video is accelerating its expansion into game-inspired entertainment, unveiling major updates on two highly anticipated projects drawn from beloved franchises: Fallout and God of War. Together, the announcements signal a bold commitment to translating interactive worlds into compelling, large-scale screen experiences.

Leading the slate is Fallout Shelter, a newly greenlit unscripted competition series inspired by the globally acclaimed Fallout universe. Produced by Studio Lambert in partnership with Kilter Films and Bethesda Game Studios, the 10-episode series will stream exclusively on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories.

Game On

Set within Vault-Tec’s iconic bomb-proof vaults, Fallout Shelter drops a diverse group of contestants into a fully immersive, post-apocalyptic environment steeped in the franchise’s signature retro-futurism and dark humour.

As challenges intensify, participants must navigate strategic dilemmas, shifting alliances and moral crossroads to compete for safety, power and a substantial cash prize. Blending large-scale physical challenges with social and psychological gameplay, the series remains faithful to Fallout’s choice-driven ethos — where every decision carries consequences.

The series joins an expanding Fallout universe that already includes the hit scripted series, Fallout 76, Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition and the popular Fallout Shelter mobile game, further cementing the franchise’s cultural footprint.

God Of War Gets Its Lead

In a parallel announcement, Prime Video confirmed that Ryan Hurst will star as Kratos in its upcoming live-action God of Warseries, co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions.

Hurst brings a deep connection to the franchise, having previously voiced Thor in God of War Ragnarök, a performance that earned him a BAFTA nomination.

The series continues Kratos’ journey from the events of the most recent games, following the Spartan warrior-turned-god as he travels with his ten-year-old son, Atreus, to fulfil a deeply personal mission: spreading the ashes of his wife, Faye. While epic battles and mythological spectacle remain central, the heart of the story lies in the evolving father-son relationship, grounding the narrative in emotional depth.

Ordered for two seasons, God of War is currently in pre-production in Vancouver, with casting underway. Emmy Award-winning director Frederick E.O. Toye will helm the first two episodes, while Ronald D. Moore serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer.

With these announcements, Prime Video reinforces its ambition to turn iconic gaming worlds into expansive, emotionally resonant screen universes — inviting fans to experience familiar stories in bold new ways.
