While every mother in the world would do anything to ensure their child’s happiness, sometimes they’re not able to give them material things due to financial constraints.

A woman recently took to social media to share her guilt over seeing her daughter not being able to have a certain kind of birthday cake for her special day.

‘I’ve failed as a mother’

According to mStar, the woman said her daughter’s birthday was coming in the next few days and had requested for a Kuromi-themed cake to celebrate.

She added that her daughter’s request had put her in a dilemma as she didn’t have the money to fulfil her wish.

“My husband has already spent a lot paying off debts, and we need money to prepare for the festive season and fulfill other commitments,” she wrote.

Last resort

Not wanting to see the look of disappointment on her daughter’s face, the woman wrote that she is considering to pawn a ring that was given to her by her late mother.

“This is the only piece of jewelry I have left and I want to pawn it off. I love this ring very, very much because it holds memories of my late mother and my heart is extremely heavy.”

Netizens reacted to the post and advised the woman to reconsider her decision to pawn the ring.

Some said that she didn’t fail as a mother in not getting a Kuromi-themed cake, but that real failure lies in not being able to distinguish needs from wants.

Others also offered to chip in and sponsor a birthday cake for the woman’s daughter.
