Carput Zap x MBPJ DC Chargers spotted at Mr DIY Sunway Mentari
9 hours ago
Besides Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL), the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is also partnering with charge point operators (CPO) to expand the EV charging infrastructure within the Klang Valley.
One of such locations is in Sunway Mentari, where a new street-level EV charging location was spotted with a total of four bays.
The expansion of EV charge points at destinations is much welcomed in tandem with the growth of EV registrations in Malaysia.
As seen here, two DC Chargers with two CCS2 nozzles each have been installed in front of Mr DIY in Sunway Mentari. From the looks of it, the site uses ChargeDot DC Chargers which are similar to the ones deployed for JomCharge x DBKL street chargers.
On top of that, there are two individual posts in front of the chargers which appear to be standees for contactless card terminals. Credit and debit card acceptance would be great to allow EV owners to activate charging immediately without relying on an app.
The construction permit notice at Sunway Mentari has indicated Carput Zap Network Sdn Bhd as the owner of the EV charging site.
Back in June 2025, JomCharge (EV Connection) alongside Carput Zap have signed an MoU with MBPJ to rollout EV charging bays across Petaling Jaya under the MBPJ Green Mobility Partnership to support its low-carbon city goals. Several upcoming JomCharge x MBPJ EV charging sites have also been spotted at Sunway Mas and Aman Suria.
With more EVs on the road, it makes more sense for more city and municipal councils to accelerate the growth of EV charging infrastructure as part of Malaysia’s Net Zero 2050 goals.
Thanks Adrian for the heads up!
