Petrol and diesel prices adjusted slightly as global oil market climbs

THE Ministry of Finance has confirmed a slight adjustment to retail fuel prices in Malaysia for the week of 18 to 24 September 2025, following upward trends in global oil markets.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry said the retail price of RON97 petrol will increase by 3 sen to RM3.21 per litre, while diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will also rise by 3 sen to RM2.93 per litre.

Despite the adjustment, the diesel price remains below the RM3.35 per litre benchmark set when subsidies were first lifted in June 2024.

"The Government will continue to monitor market developments and adjust RON97 and diesel’s retail prices based on global oil market fluctuations, whilst supporting price stability," the statement read.

Fuel prices for the week, determined under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), are as follows: RON97 petrol: RM3.21 per litre (up from RM3.18); RON95 petrol: unchanged at RM2.05 per litre; Diesel in Peninsular Malaysia: RM2.93 per litre (up from RM2.90); Diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan: unchanged at RM2.15 per litre.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public welfare while ensuring that Malaysia's fuel pricing structure remains responsive to international market conditions. - September 17, 2025
