Apple Home update deadline pushed to February 2026

Users still running the old HomeKit framework now have a few extra months to update to the new Apple Home architecture. Here’s what you need to know.
A few years ago, Apple introduced a new, more reliable version of the architecture that powers HomeKit. At the time, the company said that support for the previous version of Apple Home would “end in the fall of 2025”.
Today, as spotted by MacRumors, Apple has revised the Update Apple Home support page with a new deadline:
In practice, this means that Apple will continue to support both architectures until then, but after that, users who don’t update to the new architecture may experience problems when trying to control their connected accessories.
Updating the Home appBefore updating, make sure that your devices are running the latest software, as the new Home architecture is only compatible with iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, macOS 13.1, tvOS 16.2, or watchOS 9.2 or later.

It’s worth noting that, per Apple’s disclaimer, “all of the homes that you own are updated at the same time.”
