Prioritise ‘local Spirit’ over party affiliation, BN candidate for Sungai Sibuga tells voters

KOTA KINABALU (Nov 15): Datuk Suhaimi Nasir, candidate for N52 Sungai Sibuga, has urged voters to prioritise “local spirit” over party affiliation as he filed his nomination papers for the 17th Sabah State Election.
“Being truly local is about the spirit of service, not the party you represent. I am here not just as a party candidate, but to bring the voice of the people, the local spirit, and real development promises,” he said in a statement today.
He added that genuine local leadership is measured by dedication to service, courage in decision-making, and commitment to Sabah’s development — qualities voters need more than empty promises or seasonal rhetoric.
Responding to criticism that 33 years under Barisan Nasional (BN) had harmed Sabah, Suhaimi pointed out that many of the same critics were part of the BN government during that period.
“Those who blame BN today were once part of it. Blaming BN now is essentially blaming yourselves.
“BN is not an individual; it is an institution built and strengthened by generations of Sabah leaders for the development of the state,” he said.
Suhaimi emphasised that BN Sabah now presents a new face, disciplined leadership, and a modern development plan.
“Our focus is clear: to work for the people, build Sabah’s future, and safeguard the rights and welfare of the rakyat,” he said.
He called on Sungai Sibuga residents to assess candidates based on their spirit of service and vision for the state.
“We do not want empty promises, we want tangible action, bold decisions, and a better future for Sabah. BN Sabah is back, local, and unstoppable.
“Together, let us ensure a big win for Sungai Sibuga and an even bigger victory for the people,” Suhaimi said.
