Sarawak deputy minister to speak during panel at Abu Dhabi Sustainable Week today

KUCHING (Jan 15): Sarawak Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni will be speaking during the ‘Resilients Systems, Real Results’ panel at the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Week (ADSW) 2026 National Committee Sustainable Development Goals session.
Five agencies from Sarawak took part in ADSW 2026, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, namely Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd, Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad, Sarawak Energy, Sarawak Metro, and the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Institute of Sustainability and Renewable Energy.
The event was officiated by United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed Zayed Al Nahyan, who said the programme reflected the UAE’s role as a convening platform for dialogue and collective action.
“This programme brings together governments, businesses and investors to turn shared ambitions into practical actions. The rapid growth of advanced technologies, digital economy, and the role of innovation such as AI (artificial intelligence) enhances efficiency and strengthens resilience in support economic growth,” he said in a statement.
ADSW 2026, themed ‘The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go’, brings together stakeholders from energy, finance, food, water and environmental sectors to advance integrated solutions that accelerate impact across interconnected systems.
During ADSW 2026, other programmes held include the IRENA Assembly, ADSW Summit and Dialogue, World Future Energy Summit, Green Hydrogen Summit, Global South Utilities, Youth for Sustainability Forum, The Zayed Sustainability Prize Investor Connect and The Blue Forum.
