MIRI (Jan 15): Miri Hospital blood bank has been making telephone calls to the public lately to boost its low supply.
In a Facebook post, the blood assured the public that the calls are genuine and not an elaborate scam.
The blood bank said those receiving calls from 085-460600 or 085-329200 (extension 533 or 536) need not panic or block the numbers.
“We are inviting donors who have met the blood donation period to come forward for immediate blood donation at our centre during opening hours or at mobile blood donation venues on weekends,” said the blood bank.
On Mondays to Thursdays, the blood bank is open from 8am to 12.15pm and again from 2pm to 4.15pm.
On Fridays, the opening hours are 8am to 11.15am, and 2.15pm to 4.15pm.
The hospital is targeting to collect 15 pints of blood daily to maintain safe stock levels.
Countless cases of scams have left the public wary of answering calls from unknown callers.
