'The Traitors' Season 4 Episode 7 Recap & Review: Is Lisa Out Of The Game?

The Traitors is the kind of show that you either love or hate, but for some odd reason, I fall in the in-between nonchalant category, because I’m not eager to watch the show, but when I’m watching it, I’ve got favorites and people I despise—very odd. We’re seven episodes into season 4, and I’m really disappointed with how things have turned out, plus there is this one particular dude I’m not vibing with at all, but we’ll get into that in a bit. Season 4 is my first-ever experience with The Traitors, so I really don’t know how it’s usually meant to go, but I’m watching it with an open mind. Alan and his wild outfits are definitely a big part of the appeal, at least to me. But I’ve got to say, some of these players also dress really well, too. Anyway, last week we saw things getting really crazy for Lisa, and now it’s up to her to try and figure out how to keep herself safe, all alone. But will she be able to, or will things get exponentially worse for her? As a non-watcher of reality TV, I don’t know anything about the Housewives, Survivor, or anything else that gets mentioned on the show, but I feel like that makes it more fun to watch, because I have no previous bias. With that said, though, let’s jump straight into episode 7 of season 4.

Who Dies At The Banquet?

This banquet is meant to make or break this game, and boy, does it do that so well. Last week’s episode ended with us finding out that Lisa will have to wear a beautiful jewel, and whoever is the first player to touch it gets killed. Lisa’s got a plan right from the start, but she’s also super upset with Rob for turning the tables against her. The traitors should be working together, not against each other; isn’t it a group event, though? Anyway, Lisa strikes almost immediately, and Candiace and Rob have no idea who she’s going for, which makes everything even more mysterious. But there are 3 players she’s certain about, and they are Yam Yam, Kristen, and Natalie. Lisa doesn’t waste any time, because we see her struggle with the brooch, with all 3 players around her, but we don’t know who she picked.

Then comes the time to eat, and suddenly Alan appears, saying there are two antidotes. Now, Lisa did such a good job murdering in plain sight, but her hard work is going to be blown away if the person she chose drinks the antidote. Natalie doesn’t waste any time in saying she should be the one to take the antidote. No real reasoning, and in the meanwhile, everybody tries to figure out what it was in the food or drinks, or card flipping, that would’ve killed them. Yam Yam gets stuck on the fact that Lisa kissed him on the cheek at the table, but when I watched it back, I didn’t see anything like that, so I don’t know what he was on about. Anyway, Kristen and Natalie drink the antidote, and Lisa ends up taking the cake, because Yam Yam was the one who touched the jewel, helping her out when she was in distress. Genius move, not going to lie. But unfortunately, before he’s dragged out, he calls Lisa a traitor and says she kissed him on the cheek, which he thinks was the kiss of death. That’s that, though. She has a massive target on her back now, because there was already something there just earlier.

Who Has The Dagger?

On the other hand, Lisa yells at Rob for trying to turn people against her and voting for her, but he’s completely nonchalant about it. He really doesn’t care that he’s betraying one of his own, but how’s he going to win like this? I don’t know. Right after breakfast, Natalie is apologizing to Tara for taking the antidote, saying she went into fight or flight mode and freaked out a little bit, and Tara kind of starts to believe her until Lisa shows up. Natalie accidentally says the word “murder,” and Lisa catches on to it. She tries to use this to turn other people against Natalie.

The game is simple; everyone gets to collect gold before they reach the top of the mountain. The 6 players with the most gold can fight for a dagger that gives you the advantage of casting 2 votes in one round. But this double vote can be used only once within the next 4 round tables. Obviously, the Housewives are not making this, but the rest of them are quite competitive. Natalie’s not only the first person there, but she also makes it in the top 6. Now, Lisa decides to put her gold in Stephen’s treasure, which means he’s likely going to be targeted next, methinks. On the other hand, Candiace puts her gold in Rob’s treasure, and he happens to have the most gold, so he’s basically number one. And then, he has an advantage in the game to win the dagger. The top 5 players are given tablets. 4 tablets are blank, and one has the dagger on it. Rob gets to ask questions to determine which of them has the dagger and then take that tablet. It’s not too hard to figure out Natalie has the dagger, and Rob takes it. So he’s now got the dagger. But to make things more interesting, he immediately makes a pact with this lot, saying they’re all Faithful, and they’re not going to tell anyone else who has it, but he’s building trust with these 5, that is, Colton, Eric, Natalie, Mark, and Stephen.

Who Gets Thrown Out?

Now, Lisa caught Natalie slipping up in front of Tara, so she got a bunch of people, basically everyone outside of the 6, to decide to vote out Natalie. But on the other hand, Rob decides to turn everyone else against her. When it comes time for the roundtable, it becomes clear who most people are going to vote for. Now Natalie puts up her defense, and honestly, she looks like she’s just going to break down, which I think added to the sympathy. However, for Lisa, everyone gets stuck on the air-kissing thing, and Lisa doesn’t have great defense. She simply says she did not do it, and Rob just goes ahead and uses that against her. Colton is Rob’s bestie, so he’s just delighted to use his shoulders to bounce off of, and that’s a case made.

At the end of The Traitors episode 7, Lisa gets the majority vote, but Candiace votes for Rob because she can’t vote for either of the ladies, “forfeiting” her vote, and on the other hand, Dorinda votes for Maura. Finally, Lisa is banished and reveals to everyone that she’s an iconic and legendary traitor, making all the Faithful very, very happy. But Rob’s basically drawn a wedge between him and Candiace after what he did to Lisa, so now she’s going to do everything in her power to go against him. I don’t think either traitor is going to last this season. What do you think? The next episode sees Candiace and Rob going neck and neck, but Rob has an advantage, the dagger, so really anything could happen. I guess if Rob’s the last man standing, he wins anyway.
