Johor state election on July 11, Negeri Sembilan on Aug 1 - EC

PUTRAJAYA - The Election Commission (EC) has set polling day for the Johor state election on July 11, while polling for the Negeri Sembilan state election will be held on Aug 1.
EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said nomination day for the Johor state election has been fixed for June 27, while nomination day for the Negeri Sembilan state election has been set for July 18.
Early voting for the Johor polls will take place on July 7, while that for Negeri Sembilan will be on July 28.
He said this at a press conference after chairing a special meeting to discuss the arrangements and key dates for the Johor and Negeri Sembilan polls here today.
Ramlan said the campaign period for both state elections has been set at 14 days, beginning after the declaration of candidates contesting the polls until 11.59 pm on the eve of polling day.
He said nomination proceedings for the Johor polls will be held at 56 nomination centres, while eight nomination centres will be opened in Negeri Sembilan.
On implementation costs, Ramlan said the 16th Johor state election is estimated to require an allocation of RM86.8 million, while that for Negeri Sembilan will involve RM80.6 million.
He said the Johor polls will involve 2.7 million ordinary voters, while 867,151 individuals are eligible to vote in Negeri Sembilan.
He said that for early voting, 24,751 military and police personnel as well as their spouses are involved in Johor, while 22,339 individuals are involved in Negeri Sembilan.
