In a statement by Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad, he said said police received a report at 9.50am a cleaning worker observed that the car was parked under suspicious circumstances at 9.30am before calling police.
Investigations later found that the 55-year-old victim, who was from Bukit Mertajam, was discovered in the driver’s seat while fully clothed. The car’s doors were unlocked as well.
No evidence of foul play were found following checks conducted on the body and at the scene.
It was also found that based on the body’s condition, the man was dead for more than four days.
Had poor healthAbdul Rozak added that the victim had a history of chronic illness and was receiving treatment at the Penang Hospital prior to his death.
The body was sent to the Forensic Department of Penang Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The case has been classified as sudden death (SDR) pending the outcome of further investigations.
