'American Horror Story' Season 13 Episode 13 Trailer Breakdown

[Spoiler Alert] Episode 12 of American Horror Story Season 13 ended with Queenie and Cordelia’s death. How did things come to that? In episode 11, Ben showed up at the Academy, and the witches immediately assumed that he was there to do Nas’ bidding. But Ben first verbally assured them that he was going against his dad because he had ruined Ben’s whole life just so that he could be made king of Earth, and then he proceeded to bring Myrtle back from the dead to prove that he really meant to side with the witches, not Nas. A romantic drama started between Ben and Madison, which was supposedly further proof that he was on the witches’ side. Also, Ben had murdered Ashley because she was spying on him on Constance or Nas’ behalf. Myrtle revealed to Fiona that Constance was her twin sister, their mother was Sister Jude, and their father was Satan. The sisters bonded over the fact that Fiona would be able to help Constance unlock her powers, but Cordelia lost her composure because she felt her own blood was tainted. Marie advised her to focus on the mission at hand: killing Nas. Since Marie needed Queenie for that mission, Ben brought her out of the Spirit World. Ben took Cordelia and Queenie to Nas’ bedroom. And just when Cordelia was about to pour Marie’s potion down Nas’ throat, extract his life force, and then pass it on to Queenie so she could cast it to hell, Tate and Phibes killed Queenie and Cordelia. Now, based on the teaser trailer for episode 13, what can we expect to see in the finale of American Horror Story Season 13? Let’s find out.

The first thing that we see in the teaser for American Horror Story Season 13 episode 13 is Morwenna, Queenie, Myrtle, Cordelia, Madison, Coco, and Ophelia walking through the streets of New York. We criticize comic books for making character deaths feel inconsequential because they keep finding ways to bring them back from the dead. But the way Ryan Murphy and his writing team have misused the storytelling tool of resurrection is straight-up horrifying. I mean, it’s one thing to do crossovers with characters that are alive, but he brought back characters that have been dead for ages. Queenie sacrificed herself to bring Marie to the realm of the mortals and it seemed like a big moment. Then she came back like it was no big deal. Cordelia died when March threw an axe at her head, and she was brought back like it was a walk in the park. Cordelia and Queenie both died a second time this season in episode 12, and now they’re back again. It’s jarring. I will give the writers the benefit of the doubt and say that they have kind of made Queenie and Cordelia’s return count. How? You see who is missing from that line-up? Fiona and Marie. We get a brief glimpse of Fiona teaching Constance how to use her powers, and it seems like Constance has started to get the hang of it, because she manages to amplify the flames in the fireplace without touching it. But after that, since we don’t see Fiona and Marie, I am willing to bet that they have sacrificed their lives to bring back Cordelia and Queenie, respectively.

Ben is stuck in the Apollyon apartment, and he’s the only one who can bypass Papa Legba to bring over people from the dead. Without him, the witches have to do a soul exchange. So, yeah, I feel that Fiona and Marie have gone back to their personal hells so that Cordelia and Queenie can join the witches and take the fight to Nas. Speaking of the fight with Nas, yeah, it looks like the witches are going to make their way back into the Apollyon apartment, and Nas is going to chuck his minions at him. We see Cordelia and Mallory performing some kind of spell in front of the fireplace in that apartment, which is supposedly interrupted by Ben, and that gets Cordelia and Mallory to use their powers on him. Yes, it seems like Nas has completely turned Ben over to the dark side, and is using his powers against the witches. Madison can be seen screaming in her night gown; Phibes can be heard wanting to see some blood; and then somebody emerges from the bathtub in the apartment. Is there a chance that the brainwashed Ben is going to sacrifice the love of his life, Madison, to help Nas attain physical form? At this stage, anything is possible. It doesn’t look like someone is being drowned in the bathtub. And I don’t think Madison is going to change into a night gown in the middle of a battle with Nas and his demons. So, either Madison is being sacrificed to help Nas, or she is being subjected to some kind of mental torture by Phibes or Ben.

After all this, chaos ensues, and it seems that a full-fledged battle is going to take place in the Apollyon apartment. There’s a half-naked man crawling on the floor (and Nas is looking at him), people are fighting one another in the living room, and then there’s a dagger (with an inverted pentagram on its hilt) lying near the fireplace underneath a small mound of ash or dirt. As mentioned earlier, those strangers could be demons that Nas brought from the underworld to fight the witches. As for the dagger, it seems to be the same dagger that Phibes used to kill Cordelia. I don’t think that stabbing Cordelia caused her to turn into a mound of ash or dirt, and what we see rising from there is Cordelia’s spirit. I think someone has used Phibes’ dagger on him, thereby reducing him to ashes and sending him into the underworld. During the closing moments of the teaser, we see Cordelia facing off with her grandfather, Nas. Nas tells Cordelia to kneel, then there will be no reason to continue this fight. However, Cordelia refuses to do so because, of course, she doesn’t want Nas to win and take over the three realms. It does seem like the witches have run out of moves, but until and unless Nas takes care of Mallory, she can always hit the reset button yet again and ruin Nas’ plan of hitting a century (with his age) and beating God. Well, those are all the things that I noticed in the teaser for American Horror Story Season 13 episode 13. If I have missed something, let me know in the comments section below.
