'100 Days Of Deception' Episode 6 Recap & Ending Explained: What Happens To Cake Deliveryman?
The sixth episode of 100 Days Of Deception was a little slower than the previous episodes, but the ending definitely gave me goosebumps. I love a cute romance that is certainly not going to end well. But I suppose in this case we can just hope that these two may eventually end up together for real, though the chances are very low. In the meantime, the Japanese have found a way to get some answers regarding Cake Deliveryman, and things are looking very bad for the future, especially for So-Ran and, hence, Ga-Kyung as well. With that said, let’s jump into the recap of episode 6.
Spoiler Alert
How Does Philip Get Ga-Kyung To Stay?Episode 6 opens with a new perspective on the scene between Ga-Kyung and Philip in the rain. Earlier, it was framed to look like he would shoot her if she leaves, and that he had no plans to keep her with the team. But surprisingly, we see him appeasing her by talking about So-Ran’s past and plight. He tells her that the reason she’s so determined to kill Sato is that he killed her daughter in front of her eyes because her husband wouldn’t give away his comrades’ names. She’s obviously fuelled by a desire for revenge. This works on Ga-Kyung, though I don’t know how they could’ve been talking so loudly outside of the house like that, even late at night. Ga-Kyung returns to her room, and Philip tells So-Ran that this is the last time he’ll ever do such a thing. So-Ran is certain the girl would never betray them because she’s scared of dying. That’s also why she’s acting up right now, after seeing the torture chamber.
In the meantime, Hideo returns home frustrated, and so when he sees Hanako, he tells her that he will look at her writing later. She’s very excited, so when he tells her “next time,” she gets mad and throws a tantrum. He yells back at her, though unintentionally, and she’s taken away by her mum. Sato visits Hideo then, and tells him that he did a good job because he didn’t show any emotions on his face. Hideo and Sato speak in Korean, but we see a flashback in which Hideo did try to call the man “father” in Japanese. It was to teach him the ways of the Japanese as he was Sato’s son. Anyway, Hideo says he knew that the chief wouldn’t get anything out of the interrogation, because he’d kept Seo-Hee for 7 hours in the cell. I don’t think I understood that it had been that long. Anyway, that’s when Sato asks if Hideo had made sure she wouldn’t tell Philip what’s happened. It’s important for the Western world to think of Japan as the good guys, not evil monsters. Sato then tells Hideo that he should get close to Seo-Hee and get her to trust him, but he should never trust her, because Korean women all run away, just like his mother did (yikes).
Interestingly, So-Ran tells Ga-Kyung the same thing, to get Hideo to trust her and give her information so that she can hang around the general’s office for longer. In the meantime, Philip tries to ask So-Ran if he should go to the torture chambers and ask about Kyeam-Ri. He believes it would put Sato on the spot, but If we remember, that’s the place So-Ran’s daughter was murdered. This is why, if her husband reveals where he’s from, it won’t be long before she’s exposed too. But in the meantime, when Philip insists a little, So-Ran tells him that he’s her husband, not Cake Deliveryman.
What Is Happening In The Hidden Room?At work, Yamada, the woman who has a crush on Hideo, visits to give him cookies, but he’s with his father. Ga-Kyung receives the cookies on his behalf and eats one immediately, making a mess on her dress. When she goes to the ladies’ room, she realises a discussion is happening in the hidden area of the office. She overhears the conversation and notices that Hideo changes what the Westerner, Mr. Laurent, has said. There is some sort of pneumatic tube system being built by Korean people in the hidden area, but the guy is mad because the workers keep getting ill and taking days off. Hideo makes it seem like they’re overworked, and then he tells Laurent that they’ll manage the workers better. But when Laurent’s left, Sato tells Hideo to increase their workload by an hour, which would make it fifteen hours a day, instead of reducing it. He also tells him that there is no reason to go easy on the Koreans, essentially reminding Hideo of his place.
What Happens To Cake Deliveryman? This time around, when Hideo asks Seo-Hee if she’s feeling better now, she says she’s doing much better and doesn’t mind doing the interpretation again. Hideo goes along with her this time, and she uses her wit to explain to Cake Deliveryman that Hideo speaks all languages without directly telling him so. She also delivers the message that her “madam,” i.e. his wife, So-Ran, is doing fine after the incidents of the previous night. The chief continues to get aggressive, especially since she keeps talking to the man in Korean, but she claims she’s trying to make small talk to get him to open up to her. She also tells him that So-Ran gave him the name Keum Seo-Hee, which Hideo notices and asks her about later. In the meantime, the chairman of Joil Textiles tries to bring his daughter’s hand to Sato, but I don’t think he wants a Korean daughter-in-law, considering everything he’s said so far. Before Hideo and Seo-Hee leave the room, something shocking is revealed by another man being tortured in another room. The connection to Kyeam-Ri is established, and so there is no need for Cake Deliveryman anymore.
Ga-Kyung and Hideo are heading out when he asks about her name. She reveals her real name as something that makes no sense. Now, she asks him if she should break up with Philip and be with him. He says she can do whatever she likes whenever, and doesn’t consider the consequences. His father’s words are weighing down on him. He wants to like her, but he doesn’t trust her at all. She is trying to get close to him for So-Ran’s purpose, but she also seems to be genuinely interested in him. However, their conversation is interrupted when they hear a gun go off. This is when Sato visits Cake Deliveryman and tells him that he knows he’s from Kyeam-Ri. That’s when he calls Sato Ishikawa and yells out in the room. He’s not going to give him any answers. Cake Deliveryman curses Sato, saying Karma will get him, before Sato tells him that he will not kill him, but let him die of disease. This is just a statement, because in the next moment, he shoots him down. Sato just meant the public will learn that his previous gunshot wound went septic.
At the end of episode 6, Ga-Kyung sees the dead body of Cake Deliveryman, and it freaks her out. She starts to wonder how she’ll tell So-Ran what she witnessed. The chief notices her and tells her that it was a septic wound that killed him. She calls Cake Deliveryman a weak guy before heading out. She’s shaking and tells Hideo that she’ll go by herself, but he follows her and saves her from getting run over. He drops her home in a rickshaw. But when she’s at the gate, she can’t help but start crying again. This is when Hideo shows up from behind her and asks if she’s okay. She tries to lie, but can’t. She tells him she’s not, and he rushes to give her a tight hug. She bursts into tears, not able to control herself as he tightens his grip on her. Right on Philip’s soil, omg! But in the meantime, Sato has asked the police officials to find the docs of Keum Sok-Jung, noticing the common family name between the two. It’s a rare family name, unlike the Kims, and so Sato has realized something’s amiss. The episode ends with a man sending a folder full of documents to Sato with a picture of Sok-Jung, i.e. Cake Deliveryman’s family. So-Ran is there, very clearly, and as we saw in the preview, Ga-Kyung will be stealing that picture from the file and might get caught by Hideo.
