Vacheron Constantin Drops New Les Cabinotiers Model

Vacheron Constantin has once again pushed the boundaries of haute horlogerie with the release of a singularly exclusive creation: the Les Cabinotiers Temporis Duo Grand Complication Openface. This one-of-a-kind wristwatch unites three of watchmaking’s most demanding complications—minute repeater, split-seconds chronograph, and tourbillon regulator—into a single mechanical marvel, powered by the highly sophisticated Calibre 2757 S.

Housed in a 45mm 5N pink gold case, the timepiece showcases a striking open-faced sapphire dial and caseback, providing a clear view into the intricate workings of the 696-component movement. The transparent display not only highlights Vacheron Constantin’stechnical ingenuity but also its dedication to exceptional hand-finishing, with bevelled, polished, and engraved surfaces enhancing the kinetic artistry of the calibre.

The Calibre 2757 S represents a feat of engineering and design. The single push-piece chronograph employs a dual column-wheel mechanism to manage both standard and split-seconds timing functions, accurate to 1/5th of a second. Lightweight materials such as aluminium and silicon have been used to optimise performance, reduce friction, and extend the power reserve to an impressive 50 hours, even with the chronograph running.

Mechanical Wonder

A standout feature is the minute repeater’s silent centripetal governor, which ensures the clarity and precision of each chime, devoid of mechanical noise. Meanwhile, the tourbillon—located at 6 o’clock—features a rare spherical hairspring, enhancing isochronism by maintaining a perfectly concentric expansion and contraction of the spring. The Maltese cross-inspired tourbillon cage further reflects the Maison’s heritage.

Design elements also elevate this timepiece into a work of horological art. The open sapphire dial, a mere 0.5 mm thick, is adorned with gold-ringed counters, NAC-treated markers, and olive green aluminium chronograph hands that match the alligator leather strap.

A testament to craftsmanship, the decoration of each component demanded twice as long as the assembly. True to 18th-century traditions, one master watchmaker oversaw the entire creation process from finishing to final adjustment.

With the Temporis Duo Grand Complication Openface, Vacheron Constantin continues its 270-year legacy of technical excellence, artistic mastery, and devotion to the preservation of traditional Swiss watchmaking.
