8yo Thai Boy Communicates by Barking After Growing Up with Dogs & Being Neglected by Family

A heartbreaking case has surfaced involving an 8-year-old boy who was rescued on June 30 from a drug den, where he had been living among six dogs.

The rescue was carried out by the Foundation for Children and Women, led by Paveena Hongsakul, after a school principal in Lap Lae District, Uttaradit Province, raised the alarm about the boy’s situation.

He was neglected by his drug-addicted family

The boy was found living in filthy conditions in a drug-ridden “red zone” area, sharing a home with his drug-addicted mother and older brother.

Neighbours eventually got fed up with the mother’s behaviour and stopped letting their kids interact with the family, according to Thaiger.

With no friends or real human contact, he reportedly picked up barking like a dog as a way to communicate.

He didn’t go to school for 2 years

The boy’s 46-year-old mum was said to spend her days wandering around nearby villages and temples begging for money and leftover rice, while he stayed home with the dogs.

He was originally enrolled in Standard 1 but ended up missing two years of school.

It was also reported that the boy is currently under the care of a local children’s shelter.
