58yo woman rescued after getting lost in forest behind Everwin Lutong

MIRI, July 8: A 58-year-old woman who went missing in a forested area behind Everwin at Pujut 7, Jalan Dato Sri Joseph Balan, Lutong here was found safe late last night (July 7) after a coordinated search operation involving multiple agencies.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call regarding the incident at 4.13pm.

A team from Lutong Fire Station, led by Operations Commander PBK II Mohammad Faizul Ali, was immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene at 4.28pm.

Initial search efforts began at 4.30pm, covering a 500-metre radius from the control post (PKB), followed by a second attempt at 6.35pm.

When both rounds yielded no results, the Lutong team requested assistance from the Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team of Malaysia (STORM) from Zone 6.

STORM personnel arrived on site at 10.46pm, and at 11pm, a six-member team led by PBK II Rorudi Umas commenced a more extensive search operation through Lot 3158, Lorong Seroja 8, Tudan.

At approximately 11.20pm, the woman was successfully located about 800 metres from the control post.

She was brought out of the jungle at 11.29pm and escorted to the first checkpoint for initial medical assessment by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team.

She was then transported to the control post via EMRS vehicle and handed over to police for further action at 11.32pm. The operation officially concluded at 11.40pm.

The operation involved six firefighters, one fire engine (FRT), and was supported by four police officers and four Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel.
