"Anwar, step down!" - Tun M Says PMX Shouldn't Wait for GE to Resign Because M'sians No Longer Like Him

Former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, suggested that Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim resign from his position as Prime Minister (PM).

Tun M claimed that Anwar does not know how to govern the country, but is only good at making promises that are not kept, and recently, increasing taxes that are burdening the people.

The case, however, is not the same as the current PM. According to Tun M, Anwar is still not stepping down, even when people are gathering to ask him to step down as Prime Minister.

“I want to call for Anwar to resign, listen to when people tell him to resign because he doesn’t know the country’s orders, all sorts of problems.”

“Anwar, please resign!” Tun M said at an event in Kedah last night (July 17), prompting the crowds to cheer and clap.

Don’t wait until the next GE

Tun M then pointed out that the people don’t need to wait for the next General Election to overthrow the PM. He gave examples of three countries where the Prime Minister resigned after being pressured by the people for making mistakes.

“For example, in the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson had a tea party during the emergency. People got angry and he resigned, so the Prime Minister has to be sensitive to the people’s feelings.”

“In Bangladesh, when many people gathered to demand the Prime Minister resign, Sheikh Hasina fled to India, where she also resigned. Many Japanese PMs resigned without waiting for elections.”

He said the purpose of urging Anwar to resign was not for him to become Prime Minister again, and added that Anwar is a Prime Minister who only knows how to give speeches, but not get things done. Tun M ended his speech by chanting,
