TikTok user Mialovestoeat uploaded a video yesterday showing cars parked along both sides of the road leading to the popular river spot.

She revealed she was caught in the congestion for more than an hour before discovering the cause.

Stuck in traffic for over an hour, only to find out it was because everyone was going to the river. Lesson learned: don’t go to the river during long weekends.

Speaking to WeirdKaya, Mia shared that her family was heading back to their parents’ house in Batang Kali.

“Usually, the road is clear, so we were wondering what could cause the jam,” Mia stated.

Locals also frustrated

The video quickly gained attention, with locals sharing how the jam also affected them.

“I live in Ulu Yam. Every weekend, it’s crazy with people parking all the way onto the road. Please, to the management, hire some RELA officers or make a bigger parking area,” one user wrote.

Another frustrated netizen shared, “I was stuck in the jam earlier from Batang Kali. I thought it was some serious accident, especially since there was no phone signal. When I found out the cause, I was so annoyed. Cars were parked left and right. Absolute madness. After I got past the GIBS area, I saw a trailer coming and thought. Good luck to those still stuck.”

Meanwhile, some other users suggested staying home during peak periods.

One wrote: “The problem with long weekends is there’s traffic everywhere. Why not let families stay home during long weekends or school holidays and let single people go out instead?”
