BINTULU, Sept 16: The liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) bottling plant owned by Pusaka Integrated Resources Sdn Bhd (PIRSB), which was affected by a landslide in January 2025, is expected to return to full operations by the end of the second quarter of 2026.

In a TVS news report, Minister for Utility and Telecommunications Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said intensive restoration works are underway to ensure the facility is restored to normal capacity.

“Following the landslide incident behind the PIRSB bottling plant, we made certain adjustments.

“For the time being, filling is carried out manually with a capacity of 10,000 cylinders per day,” he said after inspecting the recovery works at the plant in Kidurong today.

In a statement shared on his social media, he disclosed that another 2,000 cylinders are currently being filled at the IOT Senari plant in Kuching, raising the overall daily output to 15,000 cylinders.

“With this arrangement, we are able to maintain at least 25,000 cylinders filled daily to meet market demand,” he said.

Julaihi further assured that LPG supply across Sarawak remains stable, despite the Bintulu plant still undergoing recovery.

“At present, about 1.8 million LPG cylinders are in circulation across Sarawak.

“To meet demand, both the Sejingkat plant in Kuching and the Kidurong plant in Bintulu must sustain bottling and filling at 25,000 cylinders per day,” he said. — DayakDaily
