Party time:  La Promenade Mall’s Oktoberfest returns on Sept 19

KUCHING, Sept 17: La Promenade Mall’s crowd-favourite Oktoberfest returns on Friday, Sept 19, opening with free concerts and a refreshed festival set-up.

The 2025 edition runs Fridays to Sundays until Oct 5, with festivities slated from 5.30pm till midnight.

“Each year we aim to throw one of the best parties in town at La Promenade Mall. We keep the formula simple—good food, fresh beer and great music.

“This time we’ve upgraded the marquee, stage and sound so there’s even more room—and reason—to dance,” said HSL marcom lead Abraham Tiong.

Tiong said this year would see dozens of food vendors, and two beer and bar partners, plus early-evening fun and games with lucky draws and giveaways.

“Our Oktoberfest is a community event with plenty for friends and families. The vibes are great, and live music really adds to the festive atmosphere.”

For the third year in a row, HSL is partnering What About Kuching (WAK) festival.

Returning acts include Mozaik and Time Signature, both audience favourites from last year’s bill.

“Time Signature is back because their singalongs went viral in 2024—the crowd absolutely loved them,” said La Promenade Mall leasing manager Angeline Ong.

She said with support from friends in Sarawak’s Tourism Ministry, newcomer bands like High Breed would be given a platform to shine.

Past editions have consistently featured great headliners like At Adau, underlining the event’s strong music draw.

While construction works to expand La Promenade Mall have begun, Oktoberfest remains at the same outdoor venue, with temporary parking relocated behind the mall and clear signage for visitors.

Ong said next year’s Oktoberfest is slated for a new venue within the expanded precinct, and that the mall would continue to host signature community events, including the Sarawak Open Bonsai & Suiseki Championship and the HSL Samarahan Marathon.

La Promenade’s Oktoberfest food line-up blends the mall’s own eateries—Terrace, Iced Bar and Aomori—with partners such as JP Mart and a selection of new favourites from the recently concluded Kuching Food Festival.

Inside the mall, HSL will concurrently stage its first-ever Property Expo 2025, featuring promotions and discounts across the developer’s portfolio.

Offers include 25 per cent off furnishing packages for Jigsaw condos opposite Kuching Airport and up to RM18,000 off selected landed properties, including three-storey homes within La Promenade’s gated community and units at Samariang Aman 3.

Guests are encouraged to drop by the expo for nightly giveaways before settling in for the bands.

Organised annually since 2022, Oktoberfest at La Promenade has grown into a fixture on Kuching’s social calendar, drawing large crowds for live bands, food and family-friendly activities.

Media coverage in 2024 highlighted expanded seating, more vendors and returning crowd-pullers — momentum the 2025 edition aims to build on.
