Samsung allegedly copying Apple's 'Cosmic Orange' for the Galaxy S26 Ultra

In a leaked image and a note from a trusted leaker, Samsung is allegedly going to be copying the “Cosmic Orange” color that Apple just introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro.

An image has popped up this week showing off what is claimed to be dummy units of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, showcasing both the design and the new colors. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is shown in a silver, a light gold, and a vibrant orange that, for lack of a better comparison, looks exactly like Apple’s “Cosmic Orange” colorway.

It’s hard to tell the legitimacy of the photo, especially given the claim that these are dummies, but there aren’t many big red flags here. The most notable oddity is that there’s a cropped watermark in the bottom corner of the image of the silver phone. It’s unclear what that is, but the placement and the part of mark we can see aren’t far off from the watermarks Gemini would apply to an AI-generated image. It’s also unclear if the Reddit post is the original source, but it’s the oldest one we’ve been able to find thus far.

In short, take this picture with a grain of salt, as it might not be representative of what Samsung actually has planned.

Backing up the idea of an orange Galaxy S26 Ultra, though, is a post from Max Jambor, who saysthat “Orange is the new Black. And will be in 2026 as well.” The post was made after the Reddit post, but Jambor has a history of slightly-cryptic leaks and confirmations, so it certainly adds credence to the idea of an orange color in the Galaxy S26 series.

What might be even more interesting in Jambor’s tweet is the suggestion that Samsung might not have a black color this time around.

It’s unclear what Samsung might plan to call this color, but it’s obviously a spin on Apple’s latest colorway. Samsung, like so many other brands, isn’t a stranger to taking cues from Apple’s direction in smartphone colors, but the timing here is quite something, seeing as the Galaxy S26 series is due to launch less than six months after the iPhone 17.
