Road closures in Kuching for Sarawak Regatta and Waterfront Festival

KUCHING (Oct 14): Several roads in the vicinity of the Kuching Waterfront here will be closed to accommodate the Sarawak Regatta 2025 and Kuching Waterfront Festival 2025, scheduled to take place from Oct 24 to Nov 2.

Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the closures are necessary for the assembling of tents and preparations, the event proper, the closing ceremony, and the subsequent dismantling of tents.

“For the assembling and preparations, the closures will be from Jalan Gambier to Jalan Main Bazaar tomorrow (Oct 15); with the dismantling to take place on Nov 5—both will take place at midnight,” he said in a statement.

For the event’s officiation ceremony on Oct 25, Alexson said the closures involve Lebuh Wayang to Jalan Main Bazaar; Lebuh Temple to Lebuh Wayang; the stretch and the traffic light junction at St Mary heading to Lebuh Wayang; and the Jalan Pearl stretch and traffic light junction heading to Jalan Wawasan.

“For the closing ceremony on Nov 2, road closures will be in effect from Lebuh Wayang to Jalan Main Bazaar between 7am and 6pm; and from Lebuh Temple to Lebuh Wayang, the St Mary stretch and traffic light junction heading to Lebuh Wayang; and the Jalan Pearl stretch and traffic light junction heading to Jalan Wawasan between 12pm and 6pm.

Alexson advised motorists not to park their vehicles along the roadside, to plan their journeys in advance and to use alternative routes to reduce congestion.
