Most adults carry some form of financial commitment, whether it is a personal loan, credit card, hire purchase, or home financing. What many do not realise is that all of this information is recorded in one place, and you are allowed to view it yourself.
In Malaysia, credit records are maintained through the Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS). The system is managed by Bank Negara Malaysia and collects data from financial institutions to reflect an individual’s credit position.
What CCRIS Actually ShowsCCRIS is not a credit score. Instead, it is a factual record of your borrowing history. It shows active loans, outstanding balances, repayment patterns, and recent credit applications. Banks use this information to assess risk and determine whether a borrower can reasonably take on more debt.
Because the report is factual rather than judgement-based, checking it regularly helps you understand how lenders see your financial behaviour.
Who Can Register For eCCRISCCRIS reports can be accessed online through the eCCRIS portal. Registration is available to individuals who have a Malaysian identity card and a personal online banking account.
Those who do not meet these requirements may still access CCRIS through physical kiosks at selected AKPK offices.

Financial institutions may also access CCRIS data for legitimate credit assessments, but individuals are encouraged to review their own records regularly to spot errors or unexpected entries.
