KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari revealed that over 27,000 Malaysian Armed Forces veterans received RM303 million in health and welfare assistance last year.
The aid covered medical treatment for the veterans and their dependants.
Adly detailed that 18,554 pensionable veterans received RM74 million in health treatment assistance.
A further RM39 million was extended to 8,427 non-pensionable veterans.
“The MAF Veteran Affairs Department (JHEV) is responsible for providing local services to veterans, including medical facilities for them and their dependents,” he said in parliament.
He added that JHEV has established close cooperation with the Ministry of Health to ensure effective delivery of these services.
Adly was responding to a supplementary question on the total allocation for veteran assistance in 2025.
Additionally, the government channelled RM190 million in Bantuan Sara Hidup aid to MAF veterans.
This included RM500 per month for each non-pensionable veteran.
An extra RM300 per month was provided for those living below the poverty line.
