Police cripple 'Boy Lembu' drug syndicate in Ipoh raid

Ipoh police dismantle a drug trafficking ring, arresting four and seizing 32kg of ganja worth RM94,000 in a major narcotics bust.

IPOH: Police have dismantled a drug trafficking syndicate known as ‘Boy Lembu’ following a special operation in Lahat. Four suspects, including a foreign national, were arrested on Tuesday.

Ipoh police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the arrests followed two weeks of intelligence work. The suspects, aged between 17 and 50, were detained around 7 pm.

Authorities seized 33 plastic packets of compressed dried leaves believed to be ganja. The drugs were found in an abandoned lorry near a mine, used as a temporary storage site.

The confiscated narcotics weighed approximately 32 kilogrammes with an estimated street value of RM94,000. Police said the haul could have supplied 42,000 addicts.

Only the foreign suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. The 50-year-old local suspect has prior crime and drug-related records.

All four individuals have been remanded for five days until Sunday. They are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“We believe this syndicate has other networks active around Ipoh since January,” Abang Zainal said. The investigation is ongoing to identify further connections.

In a separate operation, police arrested a 37-year-old drug dealer at a house in Tasek Square Residential. The raid occurred at about 3.45 pm yesterday.

Officers found seven transparent plastic packages containing 114 grammes of syabu. The drugs have an estimated value of RM13,680.

Police also seized drug paraphernalia including digital scales and empty plastic packages. The unemployed suspect tested positive for methamphetamine.

The suspect has ten prior criminal records and has also been remanded until Sunday. He is being investigated under the same Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
