Lukkhe Recap And Ending Explained: Are OG And Paddy Dead?
7 天前
I think I was in school when “Udta Punjab” came out, exposing the drug abuse culture that destroyed the lives of the people of Punjab. Amazon Prime’s new series, “Lukkhe”, takes on the same narrative with a fresh and entertaining approach. Lakhbir, aka Lucky, is a prominent hockey player who is on the verge of sealing his team’s victory with a goal. Looking at his teammate Aman’s parents in the gallery, Lucky lets him take the shot, and he scores. While Aman and Lucky drive back home, they get chased by some players of the opposing team. Lucky, who is addicted to a pill named Demon, takes it and does not let Aman pull over or give up the race. Instead, Lucky keeps instigating his opponents, and soon, the race becomes fatal as the car turns over, killing Aman.
Spoilers Ahead
How Does Lucky Cope Up In The Rehab?Lucky was addicted to Demon for a long time, and it caused some behavioral changes in him as well, which was an immediate effect of the drug. It took such a heavy toll on him that even Aman could not recognise his friend when they were fleeing from their opponent team. Lucky’s drug addiction comes to light once the police take him into custody, and blood tests follow. While he struggles to cope with reality and loneliness, Lucky meets Sanober, his “Recovery Buddy” at the rehabilitation center. Sanober helps Lucky open up, manage his anxiety, and accept his faults, things that are very crucial when you are trying to heal from your addiction. It soon becomes evident that Lucky likes Sanober, and the two of them even sneak into her room, but she backs away from being intimate at the last moment. Lucky knows that something is bothering Sanober, but he cannot do anything as she refuses to say what it is; however, she makes it clear that she does like him a lot. With Sanober on his side, Lucky’s days at the rehab seem less harsh, but soon, it comes to an end. As Lucky waits to see Sanober off, he also notices her brother, Badnaam, paying her a visit with two others, Padmini and Jaspinder.
Who is MC Baadnaam?MC Badnaam, or Nihal, is the mastermind behind making those Demon pills – they are his creation only, and he wants to expand his drug empire to make a statement in society. He wants to take his beef with OG, another rapper to the next level by gaining an upper hand on him, and that’s why Badnaam is increasing his power in the underworld by selling drugs. His sister is, of course, a recovering addict, but Sanober has no clue about her brother’s business. Badnaam relies on his girlfriend cum music producer, Padmini aka Paddy, and her brother Jaspinder Mogewala aka Jazz for Demon manufacturing. Years ago, he met Jazz and Paddy while selling drugs under Bhabhi, a female mob boss; he became partners with them while escaping from the police. Badnaam, Paddy, and Jazz have a lab hidden inside their recording studio, and it’s the same place where they make the Demon pills. Jazz and Badnaam steal necessary chemicals from Wali Pharma’s trucks while they are being transported, something that has always been a perfect robbery.
How Does Gurbani Keep Lucky Her Informant?Lucky lost his future as a pro hockey player after Aman’s tragic death and his imprisonment. With a history of drug abuse and uninformed decisions, he became an unreliable player, which is why coaches did not want to vouch for him. Lucky missed those times when he used to make his hockey team proud – he could not accept his fate, and sitting ducks at home only made him feel frustrated. Although Lucky had Sanober by his side, these thoughts were there within him, and it was about time someone nudged them a little. Gurbani, who is a police officer from the Narcotics Department and works under a lousy boss, Akohi, has been chasing Badnaam for quite a while. We have seen her in Badnaam’s concerts and parties, wearing disguises in search of leads from potential suppliers and low-level dealers. But so far, Gurbani has failed to get anything, and she cannot proceed further without breaking into Badnaam’s inner circle. Gurbani chooses Lucky due to his connection with Sanober and uses his passion for hockey as the collateral – she promises to talk with the coach and arrange for his admission to the academy, if he helps her.
Who Is OG? / What Has OG To Do With Sanobar?Lucky saw how Sanober reacted to OG’s songs whenever they came up; she broke into a fight with some boys at the rehabilitation center and also behaved rudely with a rickshaw driver. He never understood the reason behind Sanober’s indifferent attitude, and honestly, he was scared to ask her, considering her panicked state. Years ago, Badnaam found out about OG hiring ghostwriters to write verses for him and challenged the rapper to a battle at a party. Paddy, Sanober, and Jazz cheered for Badnaam as he defeated OG, claiming the stage for the night, which was a big break for the budding rapper. So, how did OG vent his anger and frustration over the defeat? He promised Sanober to let sing in his album, and when she went to his room, OG assaulted her. Sanober, in a desperate attempt to escape, fought back and pierced his eye with a glass bottle, destroying it completely. This is exactly why Badnaam and his friends hated OG so much. After getting to know about this from Badnaam, Lucky tries his best to comfort Sanober, but she does not respond well to it. Sanober’s traumatic past keeps traumatizing her, and Lucky leaves for the moment, because he does not know how to make her feel better. It’s not that he’s escaping; Lucky is actually feeling helpless and trying to find a way to pacify Sanober’s emotions.
Why Does Lucky Agree To Accompany Badnaam?Lucky does not want to get his hands dirty by staying with Badnaam or Jazz, and entering their drug business, but, considering his agreement with Gurbani, he decides to go out with Badnaam. He keeps tabs on everything that goes on and learns how Badnaam conducts his business across the streets of Chandigarh. Badnaam does not know that OG has already hired two killers to put an end to his life – when he and Lucky enter a basement with their drugs, they get ambushed by these two assassins. Despite trying hard, they are unable to kill Badnaam. Instead, one of them gets brutally shot in the leg by the rapper. Badnaam, fueled by rage from the Demon pill, runs him over repeatedly, leaving Lucky heavily regretting his decision to get involved.
How Did Gurbani Become So Desperate To End Badnaam?Years ago, Gurbani had a sister named Ashnoor, who sought refuge under the influence of Demon pills to dodge the curveballs life threw at her. At that time, Gurbani’s widowed father was in the police, which did not allow him to give much time to his daughters, and hence, he failed to educate Ashnoor about drug abuse. I would not justify her actions, but her inclination towards drugs mainly came from her academic pressure, and soon, Ashnoor was beyond repair. One day, a small argument turned big, and Ashnoor tried ending her life with her father’s gun. During the altercation, when Gurbani’s father tried to snatch the gun, he accidentally got shot, and Ashnoor ended her own life out of guilt. Gurbani had to watch her sister shoot herself in the head while her father got paralyzed out of shock. So, is Gurbani acting too harshly due to personal reasons, in order to settle her own scores? No, she knows that the Demon pills will keep destroying more lives if they are not stopped in time, and Badnaam will never stop making drugs unless he is arrested and put away in a cell.
What Makes Sanobar Abandon Lucky?Badnaam, Lucky, Jazz, Paddy, and Sanober get ambushed by the contract killer whose brother was killed in the parking lot. He has come to take revenge on Badnaam with a couple of men, after getting motivated by Walia and OG. Nobody is there to save Badnaam and the others as Paddy has already waived off the security team while buying the place. Sanober, Lucky, and the others try to get away until they get caught by the shooter’s men. After a violent firefight, Jazz and Badnaam kill them. However, Badnaam gets heavily injured when he jumps forward to guard Lucky and Sanober. After Badnaam’s surgery and recovery in the hospital, Sanober decides to leave Lucky, right on the spot. It’s not because of how Lucky was trying to warn her against Badnaam just before the shootout started. Sanober has seen her beloved brother almost die, and as Lucky is now a part of the family, he may also fall under OG’s wrath, and she can’t have that. You can see how bad Sanober feels to leave Lucky, but for her, that’s really necessary to protect the love of her life.
Why Does Zubeida Disobey Bhabhi’s Orders?Years ago, Badnaam used to work with Bhabi’s gang members, and that’s how he met Zubeida. They were co-workers who fell in love with one another – Nihal was the Romeo to her Juliet (yes, in every sense) until the night he met Jazz and Paddy. Nihal cheated on Zubeida with Paddy and soon left Bhabhi’s gang, which created a big rift between the two. Zubeida liked Nihal, but she always wanted to gain an edge on him, by hook or by crook. When Badnaam approaches Bhabhi to make a deal with her, she offers to eliminate OG through her gang members, who are already outside a shop that the rapper is inaugurating. They have planted a remote-controlled bomb in a car that’s ready to go off at the press of a button. Badnaam declines the offer because, after what OG has done, he wants to kill him with his own hands. But Zubeida, who’s in charge of the mission, disagrees with Bhabhi just to exercise her dominance over Badnaam. It comes as a desperate attempt to hurt his ego, and while it infuriates Badnaam, the bomb goes off. OG escapes the blast with minor injuries while it sends a shockwave throughout social media.
Lucky Helps Gurbani Break Badnaam’s supply chain.Badnaam did not want to depend on Wali Pharma trucks anymore after Gurbani tried to ambush him and Lucky that night. Plus, he knew that aligning his business with Bhabhi would not only bring huge profits but also make his name stronger in the underworld, something that he desperately needed to do, following the attack on his life. Now that he was taking supplies and distributing the drugs via Bhabhi’s gang members, Badnaam was becoming untouchable by the police. Gurbani tried to find out about the lab at Badnaam’s house, but it was all cleaned up, and her boss, Akohi, had already brought in a new officer, Punit, to investigate the matter. Lucky, who is there with Badnaam, Jazz, and Bhabhi’s gang, secretly films the new lab, taking note of everything that he sees. When the video reaches Gurbani, she devises a plan to arrest the drug peddlers and catches them all red-handed, thus creating a massive stir all across Chandigarh. Her efforts almost dissolves the newly-formed drug supply chain and massively disrupts Badnaam’s business. Bhabhi gets extremely angry at the information leakage as she thinks that there might be a mole in Badnaam’s team.
Sanober Breaks Up With Lucky Over BetrayalWhen the new lab was set up, Jazz brought Karam, his love interest, who knew about Badnaam’s drug business. Jazz trusted Karam with his life and was confident that they would not get betrayed by the guy. However, after their supply chain faced disruption, Jazz beat Karam up because he thought he was the mole. Badnaam also did the same since they considered Lucky as a part of their family, but that belief was going to be shattered soon. Till now, Lucky has informed Gurbani of everything through voice messages or calls, and sometimes, Sanober has heard him whispering on his phone. Lucky wants to keep everything under wraps, especially from Sanober, and has continued to lie to her. However, when Sanober kisses him for the first time, expresses her will to stay with him forever, she demands complete transparency from Lucky. This is where Lucky decides to l expose Badnaam’s new lab to Sanober – but in return, she breaks up with him. Sanober stands firmly beside her brother because in their childhood, the police had tried a lot to separate the two, but the siblings managed to stick together. She remembers how her single mother has taken care of them, and after her death, Badnaam has never left her side. Sanober’s loyalty towards Badnaam forces her to break up with Lucky, as the way she sees it, Lucky has played with her trust.
Why does Badnaam spare Lucky’s life?Sanober confronts Badnaam about making drugs, but she does not reveal Lucky’s truth. Later, Lucky gets assigned to sell drugs at his college fest, but doesn’t understand that it’s a loyalty test by Badnaam. The hockey kit that Lucky carries is full of balls; there’s no drug inside it, but Jazz tells him otherwise. Once they are inside the college, he meets Badnaam on the terrace. Lucky immediately tells Gurbani his location so that she can initiate a raid and arrest Badnaam, but when she reaches there, her plan goes to waste. Badnaam remains free from the grips of the law because you cannot charge someone with drug peddling if they have no drugs inside their bag, can you? Now that Badnaam knows that Lucky is the mole – he, Jazz, and Karam drive the young boy to the riverside to kill him. Paddy and Sanober follow them and try their best to stop them from killing Lucky. Badnaam still spares Lucky’s life because he understands how the hunger for power has changed his life. He only thinks about drugs and revenge instead of making new music, something that he has always been passionate of.
Who Kills Paddy?OG planned to take Badnaam’s life as the rapper was making deliberate diss tracks and that left his fan base divided. He tried putting out new tracks; his father, Walia, even made a deal with the police to raid Badnaam’s house for drugs, but nothing worked. What left OG way more insulted was his father’s controlling behavior, which started way back when he was just a child. Walia abused OG’s mother in front of his eyes and made him undergo strict punishments, as if torturing him would turn him into a “man”. Walia was a classic example of a toxic masculine figure right from OG’s childhood, which poisoned his mentality. When OG abuses Akohi over the failed raid on Badnaam, Walia tries abusing him again, which adds fuel to the rapper’s already boiling anger. Filled with rage, OG slaps Walia; he will not stop until he kills Badnaam with his own hands. When OG ambushes Badnaam’s villa, a violent firefight ensues, where Paddy gets caught in the crossfire. After Badnaam’s bullet grazes OG’s shoulder and he drives away, Paddy collapses on the ground due to her wound. She becomes the prey to a never-ending hunger for power, rap beef-turned-war, and a helpless Sanober watches it happen, unable to help Paddy.
Why Does Akohi Approve Gurbani’s Decision?Akohi spent his life being a loyal servant to the politicians and ruffians of the society just for the sake of earning more than what the government offered. “Lukkhe” effectively takes off the mask of some higher officials who often let greed cloud their judgment, resulting in chaos and toxicity in the society. Akohi was one of them, carrying on Walia’s orders like his servant. He stops Gurbani from arresting OG even after the rapper kills Paddy, which is an injustice towards the dead woman. But Gurbani reminds Akohi that he is also the father to a young girl, and rapists like OG will always be there if the police get comfortable with their presence. Later, Akohi finally thinks clearly and lets Gurbani take control of the mission against OG. Gurbani kills Putti, the contract killer, and reaches the concert spot in search of OG and Badnaam. She gets stopped by Jazz, and they get into a serious fight where Gurbani gets her knee badly hurt. However, she shoots Jazz down while he tries to walk away from the scene.
Badnaam Kills OGBadnaam did not come to his own concert because he knew that Bhabhi’s gang wouldn’t let him take credit for killing OG, since they needed it to instill fear among their opponents. But for Badnaam, this was a life-or-death situation, and he acted cautiously – he used Bhabhi’s gang to kidnap Walia since he was sure that OG was not going to turn up at a concert, just to answer his challenge. As the concert managers were panicking because they could not find Badnaam in his trailer, he was waiting with Walia in a secret warehouse. OG, already angry at Badnaam, urges him to free Walia, and instead of thanking him, the old man starts questioning his son’s masculinity. This does not sit well with OG, but he still lets it slide, channeling his anger towards Badnaam, who is ready to fight. In the end, Badnaam, who is already charged with the Demon pill, loses his mind completely – he ties OG with chains, hangs him, and livestreams it at his concert. He makes OG confess his sins and seek an apology for assaulting Sanober. Once the confession gets out, Badnaam shoots OG in the head as Sanober, Lucky, and thousands of fans watch in horror.
What Happens To Sanober And Lucky In The End?Lucky and Sanober suffered a lot, caught in the crossfire between OG and Badnaam. Sanober saw how the drug business took away the life of Paddy and even caused a rift between her and Lucky. She was supposed to open for Badnaam in the concert, and while he was not there, Sanober shared with the audience how she was tortured by OG. Before doing so, she called Lucky because even after everything, she loved that boy a lot. Lucky gave her the peace she always wished for, and Sanober could never stop seeking warmth from him, no matter how many times he betrayed her. While Badnaam shoots OG in the head, Lucky tightly hugs Sanober on the stage, trying his best to calm her down. Lucky promises that he will do everything to take care of Sanober because she deserves to be happy after all, away from criminals like Badnaam. He knows that although OG is dead, Sanober’s affiliation with Badnaam will still cause her trouble in the future because the rapper is not going to stop. There’s a huge chance of us getting another season of “Lukkhe” because Badnaam is clearly making an alliance with Bhabhi’s gang, and they are going to terrorise Punjab with their drug empire.
