Fire destroys two blocks of workers’ quarters near Tabuan Heights

KUCHING, July 14: A workers’ quarters was hit by a fire that occurred near the Tropic City Condominium, Tabuan Heights, here today.

In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department, a call was received at 6.52pm, and firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya were deployed with assistance from the Batu Lintang and Padungan stations.

It was noted that the fire involved non-permanent workers’ accommodation.

According to Bomba, two blocks measuring approximately 10 feet by 100 feet each were destroyed, while another block suffered about 30 per cent fire damage.

Firefighters used one first-response hose line and three 200-foot hose lines to extinguish the blaze.

A team from Batu Lintang station established a firebreak from the opposite side of the incident, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby residential houses.

As of 8.40pm, overhaul works are being carried out. No injuries were reported in the incident. — DayakDaily
