Smart #5 Brabus Laser Red Edition arrives in Malaysia: Only 10 units available for customers

Remember this spy shot? Well, the mystery has finally been answered – as it turned out, that is the Smart #5 Brabus Laser Red Edition, which is now officially available in Malaysia.

However, only 10 units have been allocated to customers in our market, according to Smart Malaysia’s Facebook page. Aside from the Laser Red colourway, it is still the same Smart #5 Brabus that was originally launched in Malaysia last November.

Despite its limited availability, the pricing of Smart #5 Brabus Laser Red Edition remains the same as per other colourways, which is RM259,800. All Smart #5 come with a 4-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, alongside an 8-year / 200,000km warranty for its high-voltage battery and a separate 8-year / 150,000km warranty for high-voltage components.

Smart #5 Brabus Quick Specs

The Smart #5 Brabus is the only all-wheel drive (AWD) offering in the Smart #5 family.

This is made possible through its dual-motor setup that pushes 475kW (637hp) and 710Nm of torque. The setup also allows the performance SUV to hit 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds, together with a top speed of 210km/h as well as a WLTP-rated range of 540km.

Powered by a huge 100kWh 800V NMC battery, the Smart #5 Brabus also supports up to 400kW DC fast charging, which allows the EV to charge from 10-80% in just 15 minutes. It also supports 3-phase AC charging up to 22kW, which is faster than most EVs in the market.

Inside, you get not one, not two, but a total of three displays, which consist of a 10.3″ instrument cluster, 13″ OLED centre display and a 13″ OLED display for the front passenger. Powering the infotainment system is an AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 processor, while there’s also the 1,190W 20-speaker Sennheiser Signature Sound System with Dolby Atmos.

Additionally, you will also find seats and door trims covered with the eco-friendly suede-like Dinamica microfibre fabric as well as an Alcantara steering wheel. Being a Brabus-level release, you will find Brabus badges on certain parts of the EV as well as access to Launch Mode, Brabus sound experience, red brake callipers, and 21-inch Brabus Monoblock Z wheels.

In terms of storage, the Smart #5 Brabus is very generous with a boot capacity of 630L, expandable up to 1,530L with the rear seats folded. If that’s not enough, there’s also a frunk which offers 47L of additional storage space.
