Planned leadership transition supports continued investment in specialty underwriting and allied healthcare
ALGONA, Iowa, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group announces that Sharon Duez Shaw has been named Vice President and Head of Claims. Shaw joined the organization on August 31, 2026, as part of a planned leadership transition from Peter Lambert, Senior Vice President, who will retire effective March 31, 2027.
Shaw brings deep specialty insurance experience and a proven record of building high-performing claims organizations, leading enterprise claims strategy, modernizing litigation and trial strategy, and partnering across underwriting, actuarial, and finance functions to improve operational excellence and financial performance.
Her appointment reflects Pharmacists Mutual's continued investment in becoming a leading specialty underwriting company serving allied healthcare professionals and organizations. Shaw and Lambert will work together over the next six months to ensure a smooth transition that supports agents, insureds, and business partners.

Prior to joining Pharmacists Mutual, Shaw served as Chief Claims Officer for Vela Insurance, a W. R. Berkley company. She previously spent 14 years with AXIS Capital in a series of executive leadership roles, including Head of Global Claims Strategy & Shared Services and Head of North American Claims. Shaw earned her Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and her bachelor's degree in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Lambert will remain with Pharmacists Mutual through March 31, 2027, supporting the transition and helping ensure continued service and stability for the organization's agents, insureds, and strategic partners.
