Apple plans to launch home security and monitoring service: report

Apple is about to launch several new Home products, but per a new Bloomberg report, the company has a home security and monitoring service in the works for 2027 too.

Apple home security and monitoring service planned for 2027, per Mark Gurman

Apple is about to kick off a major overhaul of its Home products, with a new Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, home hub (HomePad), and more expected to debut soon.

And in a new report outlining products in Apple’s pipeline, Mark Gurman says there’s a service component to the company’s Home ambitions too.

When discussing products planned for launch in 2027, Gurman writes:

That last line is key: “It will tap into a new home security and monitoring service.”

Gurman has hinted before that Apple has ambitions in the home security space. But now it sounds like the company is planning an actual service component too.

Home security and monitoring is a huge market, with a lot of potential to boost Apple’s services bottom line.

If Apple does have a paid service for home security and monitoring, it could also bundle it into Apple One to offer more value there and better lock in subscribers.

A new service also seems like a great sign that Apple truly plans to take the smart home seriously moving forward. That means new products like this security sensor could be just the beginning of the expanded product slate.
