MIRI (Nov 7): Ba Kelalan assemblyman Baru Bian will leave the decision to the top leadership of Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) of whether he should defend his seat or give way to a new face in the next state election.
Nevertheless, he said he was ready to defend Ba Kelalan if given the opportunity to continue serving his constituents.
“I leave the decision to the party’s leadership.
“If the party leadership sees it fit that I should stand and defend Ba Kelalan for PDP, and GPS (state’s ruling coalition Gabungan Parti Sarawak), then I am ready to defend the seat,” he told The Borneo Post here recently.
Baru was asked about his future in politics following him formally joining the PDP in April this year.
He was previously the secretary-general of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) before deciding to join PDP.
Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh who was previously PSB president, Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa, as well as several other PSB members had also joined PDP.
The next state election is set to be held latest by April 15, 2027.
