A Filipino husband and wife were arrested during a raid on November 19 at a house in Pandan Indah yesterday for allegedly possessing fake MyKad identification cards.

Harian Metro reported that the couple allegedly purchased the fake MyKad cards for RM250 each from a syndicate agent in the capital 2 years ago.

They admitted to using fake MyKad cards

The Enforcement Division of the National Registration Department (JPN) stated that the raid was conducted following 2 weeks of surveillance on the 40-year-old wife and 53-year-old husband.

The suspects admitted to working as security guards and using the fake MyKad to secure a job and to be able to move around freely.

They entered Malaysia illegally

According to JPN, investigations revealed that both suspects, who are fluent in Malay, have a child in the Philippines and are believed to have entered Malaysia illegally.

Both suspects have been detained and will be brought to the Kuala Lumpur Court today (November 20) for charges under Regulation 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990.

If found guilty, they could face a prison sentence of up to three years, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both.

This action is taken to ensure that offenders are appropriately punished according to the provisions of the country’s laws.
