KUCHING, Nov 20: The Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) project is progressing steadily, with the first phase reaching 40.2 per cent physical progress as of October 2024 and targeted for completion by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Phase 1 of the SSLR will span 76km, connecting Simpang Gelugus to Long Luping, at a cost of RM1.02 billion.

Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, in his update during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today, also revealed that the construction for Phase 2 SSLR is underway.

“SSLR Phase 2 spans approximately 322km, with a project cost of RM7.15 billion,” he said.

SSLR Phase 2 commenced site clearing and earthworks for Package 2 in August 2024, covering the stretch from Long Seridan to Nanga Medamit, with the overall construction expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2029. — DayakDaily
